Cedar Springs wrestling team improved to 12-6 with a 46-31 victory over Grand Rapids Northview on Wednesday.

 

Winners for Cedar Springs were Anthony Topolski at 140 pounds over Jason Rector with a 26-15 major decision, Michael Smith at 145 pounds with a pin over James Bennett and Jared Vodry at 160 with a pin over Vodry at 160 pounds.

 

Rockford improved its girls basketball record to 4-5 with a 63-27 win over Hudsonville. Rockford was up 18-10 after the first period 36-19 at halftime and 44-25 after the third quarter. Logan McCane scored 19 points for Rockford while Kadison Klausing added 13 points. Tiana Colovos scored five points.

 

Rockford fell to 16-4 in wrestling action Wednesday with a 51-11 loss to Grandville. For Rockford, Stephen Jenditz at 119 pounds beat Kleedan Hoezee 11-3, Terry Gant at 125 pounds decisioned Booney Merryweather 10-4 and Nick Guerra at 152 pounds got a major decision at over Jake Brower.

 

Rockford fell to 2-6 with a 60-49 loss to Hudsonville Friday night. Rockford was down 14-10 after the first quarter, 29-18 at halftime and 44-38 after the third quarter. Hudsonville had a  16-11 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Rockford was led by Casey Watters with 18 points, Jason Olson with 12 points and Nathan Woznck with nine points.

Mason fell 48-33 to Charlotte in wrestling action on Wednesday.

 

Winners for Mason were Bunting with a forfeit at 103, Presley with a forfeit at 119, Wilton beat Manny Rameriz with a pin in 3:06, Durros beat Noah Pieh with a pin in 1:45 at 189 and Benson topped Josh Lewis at 285 pounds on a 1:06 pin.

Charlotte improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in the CAAC with a 40-35 win over Jackson Northwest on Friday. Charlotte was up 13-12 after the first quarter, 21-19 at halftime and 30-27 after the third quarter. Charlotte had a 40-35 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Brian Peterson had 11 points, Keegan Johns nine points and Matt Donley four for Charlotte.

Belding’s girls basketball team improved to 5-3 with a strong defensive performance and 43-25 victory over Comstock Park on Friday night.

 

Belding had a 16-0 lead after the first period and 30-16 advantage after the second quarter. The Redskins outscored Comstock Park 13-9 in the second half. Stephanie Harig led Belding with 18 points, followed by Peyton Mount with 14 points and Katie Wood with five points.

St. Louis’ boys basketball team fell to 3-5 with a 79-22 loss to Carrollton on Tuesday. Carrollton outscored the Sharks 30-2 in the first quarter and 27-11 in the second quarter for a 57-12 halftime lead. Carrollton outscored St. Louis 15-8 and 7-3 in the final two quarters.

 

Parker Morris had nine points and Nole Bailey five points for St. Louis.

Carrollton improved to 6-2 with a 79-22 trouncing over St. Louis on Tuesday. Carrolton outscored the Sharks 30-2 in the first quarter and 27-11 in the second quarter for a 57-12 halftime lead. Carrollton outscored St. Louis 15-8 and 7-3 in the final two quarters.

 

Tommie Henderson had 21 points, nine rebounds and four steals for Carrollton while Henry Speight scored 17 points and Justin Cotton had 11 points, six assists and nine steals for Carrollton.

 

Belding lost to Comstock Park 83-49 in boys basketball action on Friday. It was tied 17-17 after the first quarter but Comstock Park had scoring advantages of 26-7, 20-12 and 20-13 n the next three quarters. Garrett Strotheide scored 17 points and Kole Hart had 13 points for Belding while Tye Wittenbach had seven. Strotheide had five 3-pointers and Hart had two.
