Breckenridge’s girls basketball team defeated Birch Run on Monday 51-33. It was 10-0 after the first quarter, 24-14 at halftime and 36-21 after the third quarter. Erika Wendling scored 29 points for Breckenridge followed by Madysen Stoneman with eight points and Kylie Federspiel with six points.

 

Alma’s girls basketball team fell to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the TVC Central with a 55-54 loss to Breckenridge Friday night. The Huskies were down to Alma 15-13 after the first quarter but it was tied 22-22 at halftime. Breckenridge led 39-34 after the third period. Alma had a 21-17 scoring edge in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough. Maddy Seeley scored 32 points for Alma while Kendall Vedrode netted nine points, Kenzie Seeley had eight points and Alicia Seeley had four points.

 

Breckenridge girls improved to 11-3 overall and 6-2 in the TVC West with a  55-54 victory over Alma Friday night. The Huskies were down to Alma 15-13 after the first quarter but it was tied 22-22 at halftime. Breckenridge led 39-34 after the third period. Alma had a 21-17 scoring edge in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough. Erika Wendling scored 30 points for Breckenridge while Emily Chapin had 11 points and Madysen Stoneman  scored six points. Gaby Foor had five points and Lainie Krueger four points.

 

Breckenridge fell to 4-7 overall and 2-4 in the TVC West after losing to Ovid-Else 57-38 Friday night in boys basketball action. For Breckenridge, Keegan Giles scored eight points while Jordan Lumsden and Jake Wendling had six points apiece.

 

Ovid-Elsie improved to 5-4 overall and 1-4 in the TVC Central in boys basketball action with a 57-38 victory over Breckenridge Friday night. Ovid-Else was down 10-7 after the first quarter but led 22-21 at halftime and 40-29 after the third quarter. O-E had a 17-9 scoring edge in the final quarter. Carter Hurst had six rebounds and two steals while Luke Alexander had four rebounds. Hurst scored 23 points while Alexander had nine points and Matt Steven added six.

 

St. Charles fell to 4-6 overall and 4-3 in the Tri-Valley Conference West with a 61-57 loss Thursday to Ithaca. Ithaca led 21-14 after the first quarter, 35-26 at halftime and 44-40 after the third quarter. Both teams scored 17 points in the fourth.  Kyle Clark had five 3-pointers and 19 total points for St. Charles while Chase Ruhling scored 13, Dustin Pumford had 12 and Jared Fath added nine, all on three 3-pointers.

Ithaca is now 7-3 overall and 4-3 in the Tri-Valley Conference West following Thursday’s 61-57 win over over St. Charles. Ithaca led 21-14 after the first quarter, 35-26 at halftime and 44-40 after the third quarter. Both teams scored 17 points in the fourth. Josh Hafner scored 27 points for Ithaca while Logan Hessbrook had 10 points, Jacob Smith netted nine points and Travis Smith added six.

 

Sanford Meridian fell to 10-1 overall and 7-0 in the TVC Central with a 45-34 loss to Hemlock on Monday. Hemlock was up 9-6 after the first quarter, 25-16 at halftime and 34-22 after the third quarter. Kevin Scheibert had nine points for Sanford Meridian while Jacob Wenzlick added eight. 

 

Hemlock improved to 9-3 overall and 7-0 in the TVC Central on Monday by handing Sanford Meridian its first loss of the season 45-34. Hemlock was up 9-6 after the first quarter, 25-16 at halftime and 34-22 after the third quarter. Jacob Rowley scored 15 points for Hemlock while Ethan Apsey had seven points, Brad Fleischmann scored seven points, John Kaufmann added six points and nine rebounds and Alex Merchant had six points.

 

Shepherd fell to 5-9 overall and 2-6 in the TVC Central with a 43-34 loss to Ithaca Friday night in boys basketball action. Ithaca trailed 10-8 after the first quarter but led 20-15 at halftime and 33-22 after the third quarter. Shepherd had a 12-10 scoring advantage in the fourth.
