Bay City Central was sixth in Saturday’s Tri-Cities Meet at Saginaw Valley State University. Midland Dow was first at 712. Saginaw Heritage was second at 474, followed by Bay City Western at 326, Bay City John Glenn at 225, Midland at 216, Bay City Central at 214 and Essexville Garber at 105. Even Clegg led Bay City Central with a first-place finish in the 1-meter dive at 339.55.

Elliot Plummer won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:46.61 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.70. Logan Yearham was second in the 200 yard intermediate in 2:04.50. The 200-yard medley relay team was second in 1:44.40. Adam Dean was second in the 1-meter dive. The 200-yard freestyle relay team was second in 1:33.7. The 400-yard freestyle relay was second in 3:25.86. Yearham was first and Tyler Miller second in the 100-yard breaststroke in 59.14 seconds and 1:01.33.

Midland Dow’s swimming team was first with 712 points among seven teams in Saturday’s Tri-Cities Meet at Saginaw Valley State University.

 

Saginaw Heritage was second at 474, followed by Bay City Western at 326. Bay City John Glenn at 225, Midland at 216, Bay City Central at 214 and Essexville Garber at 105. Dow took first place in the 200-yard medley relay in 1:40.76 and was second with Kevin White in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:50.52 and first in the 200-yard intermediate with Zach Hoffman in 2:01.87. Nehemiah Mork was first and Nick Smith second in the 50 freestyle in 21.68 seconds and 23.19. Mork won the 100-yard butterfly in 52.53 seconds. White was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:59.54 and the 200-yard freestyle relay team was first in 1:31.93. Nick Pixton and Nick Smith were one and two in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.54 and 57.59. Dow also won the 400-yard freestyle in 3:19.13.

 

Mason’s boys basketball team fell to Jackson Lumen Christi 62-43 in Friday night action. Lumen Christi was up 21-9 after the first quarter, 32-20 at halftime and 48-34 after the third quarter. Doug Bradford scored 21 points while Nathan Jones and Camron Picard had six apiece for Mason. Lumen Christi had a 14-9 scoring advantage in the fourth quarter.

Crossroads’ girls basketball team is 12-1 overall and 9-0 in the West Michigan D League following a 58-17 victory over Baldwin Saturday night. Malory Carlson scored 12 points while Alyssa Larson added 10 for Crossroads. Larson had 10 rebounds for Crossroads, followed by Katie Haner with five.

Belding’s wrestling team finished third in the six-team O-K Blue conference individual tourney on Saturday. Allendale took first and with a 5-0 dual season record won the conference title.

 

Placing for the Redskins were Max Walker third at 103, Michael Hunter fourth at 112, Nate Cooley first at 125, Jesse Scheidel first at 135, Brady Phelps third at 140, Michael Walker second at 160, Blake Rodarmer third at 171, Neil McCully first at 189 and JayCee Frisbie fourth at 215.

 

Alma’s boys basketball team defeated St. Charles 55-48 in Friday night acton. Alma was up 15-10 after the first quarter, 27-17 at halftime and 37-35 after the third quarter, Alma had a 18-13 scoring advantage in the fourth. Alma’s Curtis Doyle scored 18 points while Dylan Carl had 11 points, Justin Doyle had seven points and Ryan Cornejo scored six points while Matt Young had five points.

Birch Run lost 51-33 to Breckenridge on Monday in girls basketball action. It was 10-0 after the first quarter, 24-14 at halftime and 36-21 after the third quarter. Savannah Gibson scored 13 points while Kyla Breckenridge and Lacey Storms scored four points apiece.
