Chippewa Hills defeated Big Rapids 61-14 in a Division 3 semifinal match on Wednesday.

Winner for Chippewa Hills were Richie Ostrander at 103, Kaden Ells at 112, Zach King at 119, Austin Spedowski at 130, Mason Dey at 152 and Seth Mitchell at 171.

 

Forfeit winners Brendan Barry at 215 and Aaron Boyd at heavyweight, Todd at 135, Kevin Briscoe at 145 and Jon Spedowski at 189.

Chippewa Hills has now won 10 straight Division 3 team district titles.

The Warriors defeated host Reed City in the finals 44-21.

 

The finals began with Chip Hills’ Aaron Boyd (285) pinning Gerald Beemer in 4:48, and teammate Keaton Zuern at 103 pinning Shenouda Angious in 1:03. Richie Ostrander at 112 won by void for Chip Hills. Mike Felix pinned Abe Angoius in 1:47 at 119 and Zach King defeated Matt McGahey 9-4 at 125 for the 27-0 Warrior advantage. Slade Todd had a 7-4 decision over Drake Walker. Eric Russell won at 171 on injury default over Reed City’s Dylan Chrispell. It was overtime at 189 with Brendan Barry getting a takedown and 6-4 win over Andre Burks for a 44-15 lead.

 

Montabella’s wrestling team defeated Fulton 61-18 and Dansville 55-20 in two CMAC makeup duals on Monday. Going 2-0 for Montabella were Dustin Scott at 125, Dalton Kuklewski at 130, Tristan Viglianco at 135, Nate Miller at 140, Mike Hyde at 145, Zack Taubitz at 152, Joey Durham at 160, Jonny Durham at 171 and Dan Davidson at 285. Montabella is 17-6. 

 

Belding was led by McKenzie Breimayer in a 52-48 win over Coopersville on Monday. Belding is 9-3 overall and 4-2 in the O-K Blue. Peyton Mount added nine points for Belding while Monica Baylis had eight points and Greta Wilker had seven points and eight rebounds.

 

Leah Somerfield reached the 1,000-point mark of her career for Greenville on Monday in the Yellow Jackets 49-40 victory over Lowell. Somerfield scored 27 points in the contest to lead Greenville. Nikota Howe netted 11 points and had five rebounds. TheYellow Jackets are 10-2.

 

Montabella’s boys basketball team lost 54-43 to Clare on Monday night in boys basketball action Chase Murray led Montabella with 15 points, followed by Cayden Nisonger with 11 and Brady Burggren with 10 points. Montabella’s record fell to 3-8.

 

Belding’s boys basketball team fell to 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the O-K Blue with a 54-52 loss to Coopersville Garrett Strotheide had 25 points for Belding while Kole Hart put in 13 points. Strotheide hit seven 3-pointers for the Redskins.

 

Greenville fell to 60-55 in boys basketball action on Monday with a 70-64 loss to Lowell. Ian Cooper was tops for Greenville with 16 points, followed by Stephen Roy with 13 points and Ryan Davis with 12.The Yellow Jackets fell to 6-5 overall.

 

Lowell’s boys basketball team picked up a 70-64 win against Greenville on Monday night. Matt Beachler led the Red Arrows with 20 points while Ryan Stevens added 18 points.

 

Vestaburg defeated Evart on Monday 68-57 in non-league boys basketball action. DeWayne Mckinney had 20 points for the winners plus 10 rebounds. Keegan Scott put in 18 points for Vestaburg, which improved to 5-5.
