Big Rapids Crossroads posted a 59-56 West Michigan D League victory over Mason County Eastern. Crossroads, 5-6 overall and 4-4 in the WND, was up 13-11 after the first quarter, 29-16 at halftime and 46-41 after the third quarter. Aron Garland netted 22 points while James Strickland had 10 points.
Mount Pleasant lost to Saginaw Arthur Hill 86-67 Friday night in boys basketball action. Arthur Hill was up 21-15 after the first quarter, 42-30 at halftime and 60-47 after the third quarter. Arthur Hill had a 26-20 scoring advantage in the fourth. Jaleel Hogan had 29 points, followed by Aaron Leaher with 16 and T.J. Johnson with 13. Hogan had 10 rebounds, followed by T.J. Johnson with six.
Eric Davis netted 43 points to spearhead Saginaw Arthur Hill past Mount Pleasant 86-67 Friday night in boys basketball action. Arthur Hill is now 10-2. Hemlock’s boys basketball team fell to 9-4 with a 61-58 loss to Valley Lutheran Friday night. Valley Lutheran was up 18-17 after the first quarter, but trailed 31-26 at halftime. Valley Lutheran was up 45-43 after the third quarter and had a 16-15 advantage in the fourth. Jacob Rowley had 22 points while Alex Merchant netted 10 points.

Valley Lutheran was up 18-17 after the first quarter, but trailed 31-26 at halftime. Valley Lutheran was up 45-43 after the third quarter and had a 16-15 advantage in the fourth. Josh Appold scored 23 points while Rylan Appold netted 18 points. Logan Gatza had 12 points for Valley Lutheran. Josh Appold had 10 rebounds while Rylan had five. Marco Anchondo had four assists.

EAST LANSING, Mich. – Jan. 28 – As leader of one of the Lansing area’s most successful athletic programs and a key voice in the creation and growth of the Capital Area Activities Conference, Teri Reyburn has contributed significantly to mid-Michigan sports during 15 years as athletic director at DeWitt High School.
Those successes and her continuous service to Michigan High School Athletic Association programs will be celebrated Sunday, Feb. 2, when she receives the MHSAA’s 27th Women In Sports Leadership Award during the WISL banquet at the Crowne Plaza Lansing West.
Each year, the Representative Council considers the achievements of women coaches, officials and athletic administrators affiliated with the MHSAA who show exemplary leadership capabilities and positive contributions to athletics.
Both DeWitt’s girls and boys golf teams have won two MHSAA Finals championships apiece during Reyburn’s tenure. The football program has played in four Finals, and both the boys basketball team and competitive cheer teams also have finished as MHSAA runners-up.
The Panthers girls basketball team has advanced to three MHSAA Semifinals, and the boys and girls soccer teams and baseball team have combined for five semifinal appearances during her time guiding the athletic program.
Since taking over as DeWitt’s interim athletic director in March 1999, and then fulltime that summer, Reyburn also has led in the hosting of more than 80 MHSAA tournaments at various levels in various sports, plus more than 20 rules meetings and a number of clinics in coordination with statewide coaches and officials associations.
“Teri Reyburn has provided nearly two decades of quiet, steady leadership in her school district and serves as a mentor for those who are following her in the athletic director role,” said John E. “Jack” Roberts, executive director of the MHSAA. “She’s a role model for not just women, but anyone who aspires to a career in educational athletics. We’re pleased to honor her with the Women In Sports Leadership Award.”
Lowell’s boys basketball team improved to 4-6 with a 53-52 win over Grand Rapids Christian on Wednesday. It marked Lowell’s first ever win over GR Christian in varsity boys basketball. Ryan Stevens led Lowell with 18 points while Matt Beachler scored 17 points, and Austin Brannigan put in eight points.

The winners had a 13-12 edge in the fourth. Kate Montgomery and Aubreigh Steed had 16 points apiece while Katie Holzhueter netted five points.
Cedar Springs suffered its first boys basketball loss of the season Jan. 20 to Comstock Park 73-69 in overtime. Comstock Park was up 14-12 after the first quarter and 27-24 at halftime. It was 50-43 after the third quarter. Brad Brechting scored 22 points for Cedar Springs while Cam Link had 15 points and David Kearney added 12 points. Nick Krajewski and Aaron Mabie had six points apiece.
Lane Ledford scored 24 points in leading Central Montcalm to a 70-53 CSAA victory Tuesday over Hesperia. Central led 24-18 after the first quarter, 37-27 at halftime and 53-43 after the third frame. Central had a 17-10 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes. Jake Ebels and Todd Switzer had 11 points apiece and Jesse Hoffman put in 10 points. JJ Dulbandzhyan and Gabe Nichols had six points apiece.
