Central Montcalm’s wrestling team edged Alma 39-33 in the title match of the Division 3 district tournament at Ithaca on Wednesday.

 

Winners for Central Montcalm were Tyler McDonald at 103, Logan King at 112, Cody Veltkamp at 119, Sean Conner at 130, Zach McDonald at 140, Dakota James at 152, Nathan Jones at 189 and Cory Kindle at 285.

Holt was eighth at the boys swimming and diving DeWitt Invitational on Saturday. Northview was first at 401, DeWitt second 316, Plainwell 301, St. Johns 286, Sturgis 280, Jackson 270, East Lansing 231 and Holt 225.

 

For Holt, Chris Kruger was first in the one-meter dive with 212.30 points.

East Lansing was seventh at the boys swimming and diving DeWitt Invitational on Saturday. Northview was first at 401, DeWitt second 316, Plainwell 301, St. Johns 286, Sturgis 280, Jackson 270, East Lansing 231 and Holt 225.

 

For East Lansing, Will Delany was second in the 100-yard butterfly in 57.69 seconds.

St. Johns was fourth at the boys swimming and diving DeWitt Invitational on Saturday. Northview was first at 401, DeWitt second 316, Plainwell 301, St. Johns 286, Sturgis 280, Jackson 270, East Lansing 231 and Holt 225.

 

For St. Johns, Brad Garmyn was first in 49.27 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Kyler Koshmider was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:57.10. Brenden Harless was second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:21.92.

Dewitt took second at its home boys swimming and diving invitational on Saturday. Northview was first at 401, DeWitt second 316, Plainwell 301, St. Johns 286, Sturgis 280, Jackson 270, East Lansing 231 and Holt 225.

 

For DeWitt, the team took second in the 400-yard freestyle relay with Ryan Armbrustmacher, Nick Schieberl, Cameron Sackett and Dan Schroeder.  Sackett was third in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:02.08.

 

Morley Stanwood’s boys basketball team fell to 8-5 overall and 8-4 in the CSAA with a 62-50 loss to Lakeview on Thursday. Tim Cairnduff led Morley Stanwood with 22 points, four rebounds and four steals. Chase Huntey had 11 points and Nic Huntey seven points.

 

Morley Stanwood improved to 14-2 overall and 12-2 in the CSAA with a 59-46 girls basketball win over White Cloud on Thursday. Lindsey Veersma led Morley Stanwood with 17 points and seven rebounds. Mallory Raven had 12 points and six assists and Kayla Rosman had 10 points and eight rebounds. 

Crossroads girls basketball team was dominant Thursday in a 66-31 win over Manistee Catholic Central. Crossroads has won 13 straight and is 15-1 overall and 12-0 in the West Michigan D League.

 

Kaela Brooks had 15 points and seven steals for Crossroads while Malory Carlson had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Alyssa Carlson 13 points and seven boards.

 

Clare placed fourth as a wrestling team in the Jack Pine Conference tournament on Saturday.  The Pioneers had two champs with Logan Emery at 160 pounds and Michael Evers at 125. Eric Litke at 171, Brandon Ayris at 189 and Brenden Hensley at 215 were all second-place finishers. Alyssa Boberg at 119, and Bob Green at 285 took third places.

 

Chippewa Hills girls basketball team improved to 12-3 overall and 11-3 in the CSAA with a 58-36 win over Big Rapids Thursday night. The Warriors were tied with Big Rapids 14-14 after the first quarter, and led at halftime 31-21 and after the third quarter 42-24. Chip Hills had a 16-12 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes. Emily Starck and Hannah Guy scored 13 points apiece for the Warriors. Kendall Boone had 11 points.
