Big Rapids improved to 5-9 overall and 5-7 in the CSAA with a 69-38 victory over White Cloud on Monday night. Big Rapids shot 36 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the foul line and both were season highs.

 

Ashley Seath netted 13 points while Kailee Hunt and Alexis Lyman netted 10 points apiece.

Chippewa Hills fell to Lakeview Monday night 52-31 to fall to 9-2.

 

Hannah Guy scored 16 points for the Warriors while Kendall Boone netted seven points.

Crossroads Academy boys basketball team lost 57-46 to Onekama on Wednesday in West Michigan D League play.

 

Aron Garland scored 20 points while Josh Henderson had nine. It was 29-16, Onekama, at halftime.

Michigan Lutheran Seminary lost 74-69 to Valley Lutheran on Tuesday in boys basketball action. Valley Lutheran was up 18-14 after the first quarter, 34-28 at halftime and 58-42 after the third quarter. Seminary had a 27-17 scoring advantage in the final quarter.

 

Sam Hirsch scored 20 points for Seminary while Nate Lindloff and Andrew Schroeder had 14 apiece. Nathaniel Schroeder had 12 points.

Saginaw Valley Lutheran improved to 11-1 on Tuesday with a 74-69 win over Michigan Lutheran Seminary. Valley Lutheran was up 18-14 after the first quarter, 34-28 at halftime and 58-42 after the third quarter. Seminary had a 27-17 scoring advantage in the final quarter.

 

Rylan and Josh Appold had 22 points apiece. Marco Anchondo scored 12 points.

Belding’s wrestling team defeated Grand Rapids West Catholic 70-8 in the district semifinals on Thursday but lost in the finals to Grand Rapids  Catholic Central. 

 

Belding netted 24 points in the finals. The Redskins notched wins from Max Walker at 103, Jesse Scheidel at 130, Brady Phelps at 145, Zac Gross at 152, Michael Walker at 160 and Neil McCully at 189.

Lauren Jaquays scored 15 points to lead Lakeview to a 49-43 Central State Activities Association girls basketball victory Thursday night over Reed City.

 

Lakeview has won 14 straight games and is 14-2 overall and 13-1 in the Central State Activities Association.

Birch Run was first at 222, followed by Caro at 198, Saginaw Swan Valley 166.5, Alma 118, Freeland 109.5, Essexville Garber and Carrollton at 103, St. Louis at 93.5, North Branch 91.5, Chesaning 89, Millington 86.5, Hemlock 78, Midland-Bullock Creek 64.5, Ithaca 63, Shepherd 41, Ovid-Elsie 34, Frankenmuth 32, Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary 28, Otisville LakeVille Memorial 20, Saginaw Valley Lutheran 10 and Breckenridge 6. 

 

Chesaning was led by Justin Sloan, who took second place at 171 pounds after losing by injury default to Devin Pingel of North Branch in the finals.

Hemlock was led by Landon Honsinger, who won 4-2 over Drew Cox of Birch Run in the title match at 119. Alberto Flores at 189 pounds took first by beating Christian Davis of Millington in the finals 7-5.

 

Saginaw Valley Lutheran was 20th on Saturday in the TVC Wrestling Tournament at Caro. Birch Run was first at 222, followed by Caro at 198, Saginaw Swan Valley 166.5, Alma 118, Freeland 109.5, Essexville Garber and Carrollton at 103, St. Louis at 93.5, North Branch 91.5, Chesaning 89, Millington 86.5, Hemlock 78, Midland-Bullock Creek 64.5, Ithaca 63, Shepherd 41, Ovid-Elsie 34, Frankenmuth 32, Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary 28, Otisville LakeVille Memorial 20, Saginaw Valley Lutheran 10 and Breckenridge 6.
