Jarred Lachance of Midland has qualified for the Division I individual regional wrestling finals next Saturday. He placed fourth in the individual districts this past Saturday by losing to D’mario Blue of Flint Carman-Ainsworth in the consolation finals. Hunter Schneider placed third at 152 pounds and also qualified for the regional meet.

 

Dwayne Nichols of Saginaw Heritage won the Division I districts at 189 pounds on Saturday. Anthony Whyte of Saginaw Heritage placed third at 215 pounds in the Division I individual districts on Saturday and will be wrestling in the individual regionals next Saturday. Chris Miller was third at 112 pounds for Heritage.

 

Bay City Central had several wrestlers place in the top four in the individual districts last Saturday and have advanced to the individual regionals this Saturday. Davon Jackson at 160, Andre Houston at 189 and Tyler Vincent at 103 took second. Shawn Thompson was third at 145 pounds.

 

Saginaw Valley Lutheran has one qualifier for the individual regionals this Saturday. Conner LeRoy placed fourth at the 152-pound weight class in Saturday’s individual district. LeRoy lost to Zack Towne of Michigan Lutheran Seminary in the consolation round for third place.

Austin Hughes of Saginaw Nouvel is his school’s only wrestling qualifier for the individual regionals this Saturday. Hughes placed first at the 152-pound class in the individual districts. He beat Kyle Giddings of Mayville 21-6 for a technical fall.

 

Dillon Solomon of Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary finished second in the 125-pound weight class in Saturday’s individual district meet. Solomon has qualified for the individual regionals next Saturday. Caleb Selves was also second with a runner-up effort in the 285-pound class. Also for Seminary, Zack Tone was third at 152 and Sam Bumhoffer fourth at 145.

New Lothrop had several wrestlers place in the top four at individual districts on Saturday to qualify for next Saturday’s regional action. The school had 11 district champs.

 

Placing first were Connor Krupp at 103, Cole Hersch at 119, Dalton Birchmeier at 125, Gabe Bennett at 130, Steven Garza at 140, Josh Wendling at 160, Taylor Krupp at 171, Cody Symons at 180, Dakota Clark at 215 and David Robertson at 285. Owen Wilson was second at 215. Trevor Copes was third at 135.

Breckenridge lost on Saturday to Saginaw Valley Lutheran in boys basketball acton 55-43. Valley Lutheran led 13-11 after the first quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 39-30 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 16-13 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Austin Chamberlain and Pheo St. John scored eight points apiece for Breckenridge. Keegan Giles netted seven points for the Huskies.

Valley Lutheran led 13-11 after the first quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 39-30 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 16-13 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Rylan Appold had 17 points for Valley Lutheran. Josh Appold had 10 points. Cameron Schneider added nine points. Josh Appold had eight rebounds.
