New Lothrop had several wrestlers place in the top four at individual districts on Saturday to qualify for next Saturday’s regional action. The school had 11 district champs.

 

Placing first were Connor Krupp at 103, Cole Hersch at 119, Dalton Birchmeier at 125, Gabe Bennett at 130, Steven Garza at 140, Josh Wendling at 160, Taylor Krupp at 171, Cody Symons at 180, Dakota Clark at 215 and David Robertson at 285. Owen Wilson was second at 215. Trevor Copes was third at 135.

Breckenridge lost on Saturday to Saginaw Valley Lutheran in boys basketball acton 55-43. Valley Lutheran led 13-11 after the first quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 39-30 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 16-13 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Austin Chamberlain and Pheo St. John scored eight points apiece for Breckenridge. Keegan Giles netted seven points for the Huskies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Saginaw Valley Lutheran improved to 13-1 overall and 9-0 in the Tri-Valley West with a 55-43 victory over Breckenridge on Saturday. Valley Lutheran led 13-11 after the first quarter, 29-21 at halftime and 39-30 after the third quarter. Valley Lutheran had a 16-13 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Rylan Appold had 17 points for Valley Lutheran. Josh Appold had 10 points. Cameron Schneider added nine points. Josh Appold had eight rebounds.

The Saginaw Heritage girls bowling team suffered a close loss slipping to 7-3 in conference play with a 16-14 loss Saturday to Bay City Western.

“Bay City Western won the first Baker game by 20 pins,” Heritage coach Scott A Hare said. “Heritage fought back and took the second Baker game by 14 pins taking the four available points leaving a six-pin advantage to Bay City Western for total pins winning two available points. Bay City Western took a 6-4 advantage into the Peterson Games where they took total by nine pins along with two individual points with the Lady Hawks winning three individual points.

“The Lady Hawks took total pins rolling their highest game of the season 990 with Taylor Hare scoring a 265 and Megan Wekwert scoring a 210 winning five of the available nine points and the remaining four points being taken by Bay City Western,” Hare said. The Lady Hawks took overall total pins by 20 pins scoring 1,954 to 1,934.

 

“Great performances were given by Megan Wekwert with a 432 series, and Taylor Hare with a 422 series. Our girls rolled their highest games and series to date and are peaking at the right time with regional tournament only two weeks away and we are on the high road to regionals.”

The Saginaw Heritage Boys bowling team improved its record to 7-3 in conference play with an 18-12 victory over Bay City Western Saturday at Colonial Lanes. Heritage defeated BCW 409 to 389 in Baker games.

In the first Peterson game, Heritage defeated BCW 1,062 to 1,051.

Individual games were Ben Kastros (266), Morris Pruitt (224), Tyler Scott (202), Travis Taylor (186) and Derrick Norman (184).

In Peterson Game 2, BCW defeated Heritage 1,002 to 1,001.

Individual games were Derrick Norman (256), Tyler Scott (224), Morris Pruitt (187), Ben Kastros (177). Split Game Ray Eddy IV and Adam Clauss (157).

For the Peterson overall scores, Heritage defeated BCW 2,063 to 2,053.

Individual series leaders were Ben Kastros (443), Derrick Norman (440), Tyler Scott (426) and Morris Pruitt (411)

 

 

Beal City improved its record to 9-5 overall and 8-2 in the Highland with a 55-44 victory over McBain Friday. Beal City led by three points at the break.

 

Jordan Schneider had 22 points and 10 rebounds for Beal City followed by Addie Shoemaker with 14 points and five boards. Sydney Lorenz had seven points and six rebounds.

 

Ithaca lost 66-60 to Saginaw Valley Lutheran in TVC West boys basketball Friday night. It was tied 15-15 after the first quarter and Valley Lutheran led 29-24 at halftime and 44-37 after the third quarter. Logan Hessbrook scored 23 points while Eli Villalobos had 15 points and Travis Smith 11 points for Ithaca.

 

Saginaw Valley Lutheran improved to 12-1 Friday night and 8-0 in the TVC West with its second win of the season over defending champion Ithaca 66-60. It was tied 15-15 after the first quarter and Valley Lutheran led 29-24 at halftime and 44-37 after the third quarter. Josh Appold scored 21 points while Rylan Appold added 14 points, Mike Weiss had nine points and Logan Gatza eight points for Valley Lutheran. Josh Appold had eight rebounds and four blocks.

 

Midland’s girls basketball team defeated Saginaw Heritage 44-39 in a girls basketball showdown on Friday night. Midland led 15-8 after the first quarter, 24-14 at halftime and 33-26 after the third quarter. Jess Walter scored 21 points for Midland while Alex VanSumeren and Jadyen Williams netted seven apiece. Emily Resmer had nine rebounds while Williams had six.

 

Saginaw Heritage’s girls basketball team lost 44-39 to Midland in Friday night girls basketball action. Midland led 15-8 after the first quarter, 24-14 at halftime and 33-26 after the third quarter. Allie Miller had 15 points for Heritage and eight rebounds. Haley Goodell had nine boards.
