Cedar Springs’ Zachary Wamser won the 171-pound class in Division 2 competition in Gaylord on Saturday to automatically qualify for the individual regionals next Saturday. Also for Cedar Springs, Jordan Ringler was third at 103 and Logan McGahan fourth at 160.

 

Greenville’s wrestling team had two individual district champs in Division 2 competition on Saturday. Alec Ward at 140 and Jake Hopkins at 152 both took first places. Second places went to Reed Cox at 160, Andrew Bowen at 215, Cole Antliff at 285 and Will Parmelee at 130. Luke Bontrager was third at 171. Tate Jeffrey was third at 125. Top four finishers in each class advance to the individual regionals on Saturday.

 

Two wrestlers from Midland Dow have qualified for the Division I individual wrestling finals next Saturday by virtue of placing in the top four at the districts last weekend. John Hollingshead was first at 103 pounds. Cody Graham was second at 135 pounds.

 

Jarred Lachance of Midland has qualified for the Division I individual regional wrestling finals next Saturday. He placed fourth in the individual districts this past Saturday by losing to D’mario Blue of Flint Carman-Ainsworth in the consolation finals. Hunter Schneider placed third at 152 pounds and also qualified for the regional meet.

 

Dwayne Nichols of Saginaw Heritage won the Division I districts at 189 pounds on Saturday. Anthony Whyte of Saginaw Heritage placed third at 215 pounds in the Division I individual districts on Saturday and will be wrestling in the individual regionals next Saturday. Chris Miller was third at 112 pounds for Heritage.

 

Bay City Central had several wrestlers place in the top four in the individual districts last Saturday and have advanced to the individual regionals this Saturday. Davon Jackson at 160, Andre Houston at 189 and Tyler Vincent at 103 took second. Shawn Thompson was third at 145 pounds.

 

Saginaw Valley Lutheran has one qualifier for the individual regionals this Saturday. Conner LeRoy placed fourth at the 152-pound weight class in Saturday’s individual district. LeRoy lost to Zack Towne of Michigan Lutheran Seminary in the consolation round for third place.

Austin Hughes of Saginaw Nouvel is his school’s only wrestling qualifier for the individual regionals this Saturday. Hughes placed first at the 152-pound class in the individual districts. He beat Kyle Giddings of Mayville 21-6 for a technical fall.

 

Dillon Solomon of Saginaw Michigan Lutheran Seminary finished second in the 125-pound weight class in Saturday’s individual district meet. Solomon has qualified for the individual regionals next Saturday. Caleb Selves was also second with a runner-up effort in the 285-pound class. Also for Seminary, Zack Tone was third at 152 and Sam Bumhoffer fourth at 145.
