Chippewa Hills’ season ended at 7-15 with a 67-50 loss to Big Rapids in Friday’s Class B boys basketball district title game. Big Rapids had a 15-7 lead after the first quarter and 33-18 at halftime. It was 57-37 after the third period. Levi Metcalf scored 20 points for Chippewa Hills.

 

Big Rapids’ boys basketball team won its third straight Class B district title with a 67-50 win over Chippewa Hills on Friday.  Big Rapids, 18-4, plays Standish Sterling Central in Pinconning Monday night. Jake Hayes scored 24 points for Big Rapids while Quinn Tyson netted 17 points. Big Rapids had a 15-7 lead after the first quarter and 33-18 at halftime. It was 57-37 after the third period.

 

Vestaburg’s boys basketball season ended with a 50-44 loss to Lakeview on Monday in Class C district action. Kegan Scott had 18 points while Dewayne McKinney and Collin Dove had 14 apiece.

 

Central Montcalm’s boys basketball season ended with a 71-54 loss to Alma Monday night in Class B district action. Lane Ledford had 30 points and 10 rebounds for the Green Hornets. Jake Ebels added eight points. Central’s season ended at 9-12.

Greenville’s boy basketball season ended on Monday with a 58-40 loss to Forest Hills Northern in Class A district action.

 

Greenville had an 11-10 record. Stephen Roy and Ian Cooper had eight points apiece for Greenville.

 

Greenville’s girls basketball season ended at 20-3 with a 65-60 loss to Muskegon on Tuesday in the Class C regional semifinals. Greenville was up 13-11 after the first quarter and 28-23 at halftime, but was down 44-43 after the third quarter and outscored 65-60 in the fourth quarter. Paige Hallock had 22 points for Greenville while Landon Kemp had 13 point s and Leah Somerfield had 10 points and 10 rebounds.

 

Carson City Crystal’s girls basketball team improved to 21-1 on Tuesday with a 38-34 win over Grandville Calvin Christian in the Class C regional semifinals. The Eagle were up 12-9 after the first quarter, 18-11 at halftime and 25-23 after the third quarter. Mackenzie Geister had 15 points for the Eagles.

 

Dalton Roberts of Fowlerville had a second-place effort last week at the Division 2 state wrestling finals at Auburn Hills. He won his first three matches with a technical fall, major decision and decision. He lost to Dominic Lajoie of Gaylord in the title match by an 11-7 decision. Mason Litz of Fowlerville was sixth after losing to Rylen Droscha of Mason by fall in 1:55. 

 

Tristen Zienkewicz of Farwell is a state champion. He went 4-0 last weekend at Auburn Hills in the Division 3 state wrestling finals. Zienkiewicz had three decisions and a pin to take the win. He decisioned Jared Elliott of Birch Run in the title match. Glenn Beardsley of Farwell was third at 112. He beat Arthur Payne of Montrose Hill-McCloy 2-1 in the consolation finals.

 

Joe Foret at 285 pounds placed fourth in the Division 3 state championship for Essexville-Garber at Auburn Hills. Foret won his consolation semifinal in a tiebreaker over Presley Kellogg of Michigan Center but lost the match for third place to Hunter Shaw in another tie breaker.
