Okemos’ boys basketball season ended with a 42-38 loss to Lansing Eastern in Class A district title action Friday. Lansing Eastern trailed 15-14 after the first quarter but led 24-22 at halftime. Eastern was up 34-30 after the third quarter. Both teams scored eight points in the fourth. Connor George scored nine points for Okemos and Edward Smith added eight.

 

Lakeview’s season ended at 20-4 with a 80-72 loss to Shelby on Monday in a Class C regional semifinal game. Jason Beckman scored 37 points for the winners. Shelby was up 19-16 after the first quarter, 37-30 at halftime and 49-45 after the third quarter. Nate Shurlow scored 24 points and Shawn Lindsey had 20 points for Lakeview.

 

Lansing Catholic’s season ended on Monday with a 64-55 loss to Wayland Union in the Class B regional semifinals. Wayland was up 18-16 after the first quarter, 30-28 at halftime and 46-39 after the third quarter. Tony Poljan scored 29 points to lead Lansing Catholic while David Poljan scored 12 points and Matthew Fata had eight points.

 

Ithaca’s boys basketball season ended on Friday with a 56-55 Class C district championship loss to Lakeview. Lakeview was up 10-9 after the first quarter but it was tied 16-16 at halftime. Lakeview led 33-27 after the third quarter. Josh Hafner scored 21 points for Ithaca while Logan Hessbrook had eight points and Spence DeMull and Travis Smith scored six apiece.

 

Nate Shurlow hit the late-game layup last Friday that lifted the Lakeview Wildcats to a 56-55 Class C district championship win over Ithaca. Lakeview was up 10-9 after the first quarter but it was tied 16-16 at halftime. Lakeview led 33-27 after the third quarter. John Torres had 12 points for Lakeview while Nate Shurlow had 10 and Brad Hamlin and Shawn Lindsey scored nine points apiece. Lindsey had six rebounds and John Torre added three steals.

 

Pewamo-Westphalia’s boys basketball team improved to 20-2 on Monday in the Class C regional semifinals with a 57-36 win over Grand Rapids NorthPointe Christian. P-W fired out to a 16-4 lead after the first quarter and a 36-16 lead at halftime. It was 46-24 after the third quarter. Evan Fedewa had 15 points for P-W, while Nick Spitley had 13 points, Adam Wesley 11 points and Lane Simon 10 points.

 

Fulton-Middleton improved to 21-2 on Monday with a 71-53 victory over Muskegon Catholic Central. The Pirates were up 18-13 after the first quarter, 37-21 at halftime, and 56-36 after the third quarter, and was outscored by Catholic Central 18-15 in the fourth. Colton Antes and Nathan Davis scored 17 points apiece for Fulton while Greg Jones added 11 points.

 

Bay City All Saints boys basketball season ended on Monday with a 59-47 loss to Peck in the Class D regional semifinals. All-Saints trailed 13-11 after the first quarter, 24-22 at halftime and 37-35 after the third quarter. Peck had a 22-12 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Justin Bates scored 28 points for All-Saints while Nick Hunter followed with seven points.

 

Hemlock’s season ended with a 58-55 loss to Montrose on Monday in Class C regional boys basketball action. Hemlock trailed 10-9 after the first quarter but it was tied 24-all at halftime and Hemlock led 43-37 going into the fourth quarter. Montrose had a 21-12 scoring advantage in the final quarter. Brad Fleishmann had 18 points and Jacob Rowley added 14 points while Ethan Apsey had 11 points. Malik Taylor scored 28 for Montrose.

 

Quinn Tyson’s 36 points led Big Rapids to a 65-59 victory over Standish-Sterling on Monday night in a Class B regional semifinal game. Big Rapids improved to 19-4. The Cardinals, who won last year’s regional tournament, will play for the regional title Wednesday night.
