Elaine Mahabir of Midland has been named to the Associated Press Class A girls basketball team as coach of the year. She guided the team to a 21-3 record overall and 14-0 record in the Saginaw Valley League North.
Cori Crocker of Grand Ledge a 6-3 junior, has been named to the Associated Press Class A girls basketball team. She scored 15 points and had 14 rebounds, plus seven blocked shots in a 69-50 win over Jackson during the regular season.
Jessica Walter of Midland, a 5-11 senior, has been named to the Associated Press Class A girls basketball team. She signed a national letter of intent in November to play basketball at Indiana. She averaged 18.3 points per game.
Presley Hudson of Wayland and McKenzie Breimayer of Belding have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. Hudson had 22 points including six 3-pointers in a 53-44 win over host Hamilton. Breimayer averaged 17.8 points and 3.0 assists per game.
Ayren Parrish of Charlotte and Sarah Schultz of Williamston have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. Parrish had 22 points in a regular-season game against Charlotte. Schultz scored 13 points in a victory over Fowlerville.
Allie Grys of Portland and Allie Dittmer of Eaton Rapids have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. Grys scored 24 points in a 56-53 Portland win over DeWitt in February. Ditmer had 26 points and 13 rebounds for Eaton Rapids in its 51-38 Class B state title win over Grand Rapids South Christian.
Taylor Bovee and Sarah Swartz of Ionia have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. They both scored 16 points in Ionia’s regional semifinal win over Williamston.
Hannah Guy of Remus Chippewa Hills and Hannah Yesmunt of Shepherd have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press’ Class B girls basketball team. Guy had 29 points this season in a 59-33 victory over Central Montcalm. Yesmunt had a season-high 27 points against Essexville-Garber
Taryn Taugher of Freeland and Keri Frahm of Frankenmuth have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. Taugher had 26 points, six rebounds and three steals in a regular season win over Shepherd. Fraham scored 17 points in a win over Birch Run.
Jenai LaPorte and Kalle Martinez of Bay City John Glenn have been named to the honorable mention list of the Associated Press Class B girls basketball team. LaPorte averaged 20.6 points per game. Martinez averaged 18.8 points per game.
