Nick Carl and Colton Pnacek of Mason were state finalist participants in the state bowling Division 2 finals at Waterford and finished 24th with a 1,181 while Pnacek was 34th at 1,127. The top 16 advanced to the next round.

 Cody Vincent of Owosso was a state semifinalist for Division 2 bowlers in the state finals March 1 at Waterford. Vincent lost to Alec Nunn of Warren Fitzgerald 334-296. Vincent beat Cory Daniels of Jackson Northwest 390-375 in the quarterfinals.

 

Alex Ouelette of Bay City John Glenn is the Division 2 state bowling champion. Ouelette won the state finals tournament in March at Waterford. Ouelette bowled a 300 game in the morning qualifying block. He beat Alec Nunn of Warren Fitzgerald 479-410 in the title match. In the semifinals, he beat Cody Wilkins of Tecumseh 460-341. Zachary Walker of John Glenn was 55th in the qualifying block at 1,021 and Dalton Crabtree 58th with a 1,004.

 

Saginaw Swan Valley tied for eighth place at the state finals March 1 at Jackson in the qualifying block. But it lost to Armada in a playoff to determine which team would advance to the quarterfinals. Swan Valley had a 2868. Birch Run was 10th at 2,865, Ovid-Elsie 12th at 2,792 and Big Rapids 14th at 2,769.

 

Corunna and Goodrich both lost in the state quarterfinals for Division 3 boys bowling recently at Jackson. After the qualifying block, Corunna was ranked second at 3,339 while Goodrich was fourth at 3,185. Freeland was 18th at 2,619.

 

Big Rapids hockey player Brad Walling,  junior defensemen, has been named to the Michigan High School Hockey Coaches Association all-state team honorable mention list. Walling had seven goals and nine assists for the Cardinals.

 

Erin Robach of Belding was a participant in the girls bowling state finals for Division 3 on March 1 at Jackson. Robach lost to Megan Geiser of Croswell-Lexington 336-314. In the qualifying block, Robach placed 14th at 1,076.

 

Kayla Lagalo of Freeland was a participant in the Division 3 girls state bowing finals March 1 at Airway Lanes in Jackson. Lagalo lost in the Round of 16 to Hannah Elder of Corunna 355-278 in the qualifying block. Lagalo placed 16th for the final spot to advance. Lagalo bowled a 1,065.

 

Briannna Cords of Perry was a quarterfinalist in the Division 3 state bowling finals on March 1 in Jackson. Cords won in the Round of 16 over Sierra Howes of Corunna 403-393. Cords placed ninth in the qualifying block with a 1,106.

 

Hannah Eldridge of Corunna was a state semifinalist in the Division 3 girls bowling state finals at Jackson on March 1. She lost to Hannah Chase of Alma 347-341 in the semifinals. Eldridge beat Brianna Cords of Perry 375-347 in the quarterfinals. Sierra Howes of Corunna also qualified for the meet and lost in the Round of 16 by a score of 403-393 to Brianna Cords.
