Eight seniors highlight the Rockford baseball roster this season. Those seniors are Ryan Baumann, Matt DiLeo, Ryan Jerrils, Reid Kelly, Brent Showers, Jon Stewart, Bobby Wilson and Kory Young. Rockford is scheduled to play at Bedford North Lawrence April 11 and at Edgewood April 12.

 

Austin Gregory of Ionia and Zac Gustafson of  Portland have been named to the Associated Press Class B boys basketball team honorable mention list. Gregory scored 13 points in a loss to Belding. Gustafson had 23 points in a game against Stockbridge during the regular season.

 

Dylan Carl of Alma and Henry Speight of Carrollton have been named to the Associated Press Class B boys basketball team honorable mention list. Carl scored 18 points in a district finals loss to Belding. Speight averaged 15.4 points per game.

 

Connor Bluhm and Derrek Clyde of Bay City John Glenn have been named to the Associated Press Class B boys basketball team honorable mention list. Bluhm had 18.1 points and 9.5 rebounds a game while Clyde averaged 13.5 points and 4.6 assists per game. 

 

Mikhail Myles of Corunna has been named to the 2014 Associated Press boys basketball Class B all-state special mention basketball team. Myles scored 31 points in a 66-55 season opening win over Laingsburg and 37 points against Ionia.

 

Tony Polijan of Lansing Catholic has been named to the 2014 Associated Press boys basketball Class B all-state basketball team. He scored 38 points in a 56-50 victory over Williamston.

 

Central Montcalm’s Lane Ledford has been named to the Class B all-state boys basketball team honorable mention list by the Associated Press. Ledford, a junior, averaged 19 points and eight rebounds per game.

 

Long-time Lakeview coach Tammy Dey has resigned as volleyball coach for the varsity Wildcats and has been replaced by Amber Fifelski, a former athlete at Central Montcalm. She’s a former coach at Olivet.

Three players from Big Rapids Crossroads have been included on the special mention all-state girls basketball list by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. Malory Carlson was on the first team while Kaela Brooks and Alyssa Larson was on the special mention list.

 

Carlson averaged 14 points and eight rebounds a game for a 19-2 CCA team. Brooks had nine points and five steals and Larson 12 points and eight rebounds a game.

 

Lindsey Veersma of Morley Stanwood has been included on the special mention all-state girls basketball list by the Basketball Coaches Association of Michigan. She averaged 15 points and three rebounds a game.
