Evan Marquardt of Midland Dow and Will Williams, of Midland have been named to the Class A all-state boys basketball team honorable mention list for the Associated Press. Marquardt scored 33 points in a win over Midland. Williams scored 29 points in a win over Saginaw.
DeQuandre Dentmond of Lansing Eastern has been named to the Class A all-state special mention boys basketball team for Associated Press. He averaged 18 points per game.
Keyon Addison and Algevon Eichelberger of Saginaw have been named to the Associated Press Class A all-state special mention boys basketball team. In a game against Midland this season, Eichelberger had 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks while Addison had 30 points, nine steals and five assists.
Jaleel Hogan, 6-foot-6 senior center of Mount Pleasant was on the Associated Press Class A all-state special honors boys basketball team announced recently. He averaged 18.5 points and 12.5 rebounds per game and has committed to Detroit-Mercy.
Eight seniors dot the 2014 roster for the Rockford boys lacrosse team. The seniors are Cam Clemens, Randy Garvin, Seth Hodges, Riley O’Keefe, Zach Pierce, Ben Sims, Darian Vaughn and Alex Vredenburg. The season starts at home April 15 against West Ottawa.
The Rockford girls soccer team features several seniors this season.
The 12-graders for the Rams are Megan Chrisman, Allie DeVries, Megan Christman, Sarah Rollins, Amanda Puisto, Rachel Neubecker, Gabriella Nordin and Kelsey Walters. The season starts at home April 16 against Caledonia.
Nine seniors dot the Rockford softball roster this season. Those seniors are Lexie Brown, Ashley Mengyan, Sidney Olejnicak, Emily Smith, Gabrielle Smith, Karlee Tykosky, Sari Yasuta and Rachel Zeboor. The season starts April 6 at West Catholic. The first home game is April 18 with Kenowa Hills.
Eight seniors highlight the Rockford baseball roster this season. Those seniors are Ryan Baumann, Matt DiLeo, Ryan Jerrils, Reid Kelly, Brent Showers, Jon Stewart, Bobby Wilson and Kory Young. Rockford is scheduled to play at Bedford North Lawrence April 11 and at Edgewood April 12.
Austin Gregory of Ionia and Zac Gustafson of Portland have been named to the Associated Press Class B boys basketball team honorable mention list. Gregory scored 13 points in a loss to Belding. Gustafson had 23 points in a game against Stockbridge during the regular season.
Dylan Carl of Alma and Henry Speight of Carrollton have been named to the Associated Press Class B boys basketball team honorable mention list. Carl scored 18 points in a district finals loss to Belding. Speight averaged 15.4 points per game.
