Rockford’s boys track team will be led this season by 13 seniors.

 

The 12th-graders are Garrett Prost, Spencer Keating, Matthew Albano, Jeremy Ortiz-Ellis, Corey McIntyre, Shawn Bloch, Brandon Sanchez, Kenan Swihart, Nate Woznak, John McGregor, Collin Carriere, Jason Leon and John Montoya.

 

The Rockford boys golf season will begin Tuesday, April 15, at NorthPointe Christian for the Rockford Rams. Seniors leading the attack for Rockford are Grant Keller, AJ Vrekois and Ethan Weaver.

 

Three seniors lead the attack for the Rockford girls tennis team this season. Paula Downs, Courtney Federson and Samantha Harrell will look to give the Rams key leadership. The season starts April 16 at Grand Haven.

 

The Rockford girls lacrosse team will open its season April 15 at home with Grand Rapids Catholic Central. Seniors that will lead the Rams attack are Meghan Datema, Kylegh Egnatuk, Aimee Hite, Molly Simmet, Amber Livingston, Kendall Short, Brooke Combs, Allie Hite and Izzy Vickers.

 

Eight seniors will lead the attack for the Rockford boys lacrosse team this season. Seniors for the Rams are Cam Clemens, Randy Garvin, Seth Hodges, Riley O’Keefe, Zach Pierce, Ben Sims, Darian Vaughn and Alec Vrendenburg. The first game is home April 15 with West Ottawa.

Cedar Springs’ girls track team returns to action at West Catholic on April 15. Team members include Caitlin McClurken, Maddie Pekrul, Ally Hamilton, Olivia Finch, Taylor VanLagnen, Abby Olsewski, BrittanyTodd, Slyng Chne, Kayla Bohy, Jennifer and Hannah Heintzelman, Allyson Marvel, Tara Tepin, Marissa Oakes, Alison Hall, Emily Shaft, Jesseka Ruter, Madisen Mora, Alexandra Colley, Aaliyah Sarena, Kenzie Weiler, Shayna Mann and Elle Ovokaitys.

 

 

Austin Sargent, the 2013 state Division 2 cross country champ, returns for his junior season and coach Jeff Myers is looking for him to be an all-state contender in the 1,600-meter run. Cedar Springs will also get points from junior Justin Jones in the distances, junior Caden Burrows in the throws and senior Jordan Johnson in the throws.

Cedar Springs will score points in the throws, jumps and distances. 

 

The Red Hawks were runners-up in the O-K Conference last season.

 

Cedar Springs’ baseball team is set for another banner season under coaches Steve and Sam Saboo and Bill Frodl. Players include Collin Hickok, Tyler Luevano, Nick Steed, Josh Bray, Zachary Warnser, Harly Malzen, Cameron Mitchell, Charles Frodl, Ty Timmers, Nick Morris, Mitchell Kooiman and Dan Schlump. The season starts at Comstock Park April 14.

 

Belding’s girls softball team will be going for its sixth consecutive district title this season. The Redskins are coming back from a 19-8 season. Top notch senior returners are Rachel Hunt, Hannah Linebaugh and Maria Heitzelman.

 

Belding’s soccer team earned its first win of the season recently with a 3-0 blanking of visiting Comstock Park. Belding is 1-1. Veronica Muniz scored twice for Belding while Kimme Thomas had one goal. Belding outshot Comstock Park 20-2.
