Local individuals are among the high school game officials with 20, 30, 40, 45 and 50 years of service who will be honored at the MHSAA Officials’ Awards & Alumni Banquet on May 3.

Area 30-year officials include Greg Worthington of Owosso and Randy Reese of Stanton Central Montcalm, 

 

Eight officials with 50 or more years of service will be honored, along with 14 officials with 45 years. A 40-year award will be presented to 74 officials. In addition, 92 officials with 30 years and 183 officials with 20 years of experience will be honored. With the induction of this year’s group of 371, the honor roll of officials who have aided young student-athletes grows to 9,416 since the inception of the banquet in 1980.

Two 50-year officials are Leonard Callard of Saginaw and Phillip Long of Swartz Creek.

Cassell Jones of Grand Ledge has been named to the boys basketball Class A all-state honorable mention list by the Associated Press. Jones scored 13 points in a loss to Mason.

 

Don’Quall Jackson of Holt and Doug Bradfield of  Mason have been named to the boys basketball Class A all-state honorable mention list by the Associated Press. Jackson scored 22 points against Lansing Eastern. Bradfield was nominated to play in the McDonald’s All-American game.

 

Marcus Moore and Michael Fomby of Lansing Waverly have been named to the boys basketball Class A all-state honorable mention list by the Associated Press. They both score 18 points in a loss to East Lansing.

 

Brian Bowen of Saginaw Arthur Hill and  Marquavian Stephens of Swartz Creek have been named to the boys basketball Class A all-state honorable mention list by the Associated Press. Bowen, a freshman, scored 13 points against Saginaw. Stephens had 29 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Lapeer East.
