Lakeview’s softball team is looking to improve from a 11-13 record from the 2013 season. Kirsten Johnson, a senior pitcher and infielder, lead the way for Lakeview after hitting .358 last season and going 4-6 on the mound. Senior second baseman Estelle Molitor also returns after hitting .320 with 22 RBI last season.

 

Carson City-Crystal’s softball team is coming of a 16-12 season with hopes of competing in the Mid-State Activities Conference. Makenzie Geister, Raelynn Ferguson and Taylee Smith are captains and lead the way for the Eagles.

 

Belding’s girls track team will be defending its O-K Blue track and field title this season. The Redskins are home April 17 against Coopersville. Key point producers for Belding are expected to be Monica Baylis in the middle distances, Danielle Rode in the distances and pole vault, McKenzie Rode in the sprints and long jump and Greta Wilker in the throws.

Bay City Western was led by Stephanie Pajot in Tuesday’s girls track and field dual against Mount Pleasant. Pajot won the shot put with a throw of 37-7.5 and the discus with a throw of 92-5.

 

Mount Pleasant’s Lindsey DeFrain won the 100 meters in 12.97 seconds and the 200 meters in 26.9 in a girls track and field dual against Bay City Western on Tuesday. Mount Pleasant won three of the four relays.

 

Alex Mudd was first in the 100 meters and 200 meters for Auburn Bay City Western in track action Tuesday at Mount Pleasant. He ran the 100 in 11.86 and the 200 in 24.14. Cole Rechsteiner won the 110 meter hurdles in 17.31 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 47.7 seconds. Kane Wendling was first in the shot put, discus and high jump.

 

Greenville’s boys track and field team will look to be contenders in the O-K Bronze Conference this season. Top athletes include Alex Dillon, Eric Platte and Carter Stephens in the 800 relay team, which qualified for state last season.

Three girls that qualified for the state finals last season will lead the way for Greenville’s track team.

 

Audrey Wyse was eighth in the pole vault last season. Taylor Baker in the 200 meters and Leah Somerfield in the shot put were also state qualifiers and they return to the Yellow Jacket lineup.

 

Saginaw Heritage won a girls track and field meet over Midland on Tuesday. Alexis Lenoir was first in the 100 meters in 13.15 and the 200 meters in 27.5. Lauren Wellman won the 400 meters in 1:05.8 and the 800 meters in 2:44.5. Nichole Clement won the 1,600 meters in 5:41.85 and Taylor Myers took the 3,200 meters in 13:54. Olivia Llewelyn won the 100 hurdles in 16.66 and the 300 hurdles in 50.05. Heritage won all the relays. Field event winners were Yasmine Vail in the high jump at 4-10, Katica Toth in the pole vault at 9-0 and in the long jump at 13-11.25.

 

Midland lost a girls track and field meet to Saginaw Heritage on Tuesday. Katherine Vieau won the shot put at 31-5.5 and the discus at 80-10.
