Big Rapids’ boys track team lost to Morley Stanwood 82-54 on Wednesday while defeating Newaygo 74-61. Avery Montgomery won the 100-meter dash and won with the 400-meter relay team which included Robert Green, Christian Hector and Eric Boyd.

 

The Morley Stanwood girls defeated Newaygo 109-22 and Big Rapids 94-49 in track and field action on Wednesday. Alex Gialik won the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles while Brook Huested was first in the 400-meter dash and long jump for the Mohawks.

The Big Rapids girls track team beat Newaygo 50-43 on Wednesday but lost to Morley Stanwood 94-40.

 

Big Rapids picked up first places from Stephanie Hutchins in the 100-meter dash in 13.89 seconds and Alexis Pylman in the pole vault at 9-0 along with the 400-meter relay team of Hutchins, Pylman, Anique Brazier and Rebecca Christiansen in 55.26.

 Big Rapids’ soccer team defeated Manistee 5-2 on Wednesday. Manistee got out to a 5-0 lead but Big Rapids came back with five unanswered goals to improve their record to 6-2. Katie Adrianse, Kayla Somsel, Hannah Davis and Reagan Rogers scored for the Cards. Davis had back-to-back goals.

 

Lakeview defeated Clare 3-0 and Saginaw Arts and Science Academy 5-0 in soccer action last week at Alma. The Wildcats lost 5-0 to St. Johns. Tricia Beckett scored two goals in the win over Saginaw.

 

Montabella’s girls track team won the Webberville Invitational last week. The top point producer for the Mustangs was Alyvia Karcher and Taylor Smith, who won four events each. They were both on the first-place 1,600-meter relay team and 3,200-meter relay squad. Karcher was third in the 400-meter dash and 800-meter relay. Smith was second in the 3,200 run and third in the 1,600-meter race.

 

Coleman’s girls track team was sixth with 45 points in the Pine River Invitational on Saturday. Pine River was first with 137 points. Amanda MacDonald won the pole vault in 8-0 and was second in the long jump at 14-3.

Coleman’s boys’ track team was fourth among six squads on Saturday in the Pine River Invitational with 69 points. Kent City won with 153.

 

Curtis Bell was first for Coleman in 12-6. Coleman also netted a second place in 44-5 from Hunter Gross in the shot put.

 

Cory Kindle threw the shot put 44-10 and the discus 120-8 to lead Central Montcalm’s sixth-place effort at the Middleton-Fulton Invitational last week. Logan Davis was fourth in the 110 meter hurdles.

 

Greenville’s boys track team was fourth at the Middleton Fulton Invitational last week. Carter Stephens led the Yellow Jacket effort with second places in the 100 and 400 and a fourth in the 200.
