Montabella defeated Carson City-Crystal 4-3 in the second game of a Mid-State Activities Conference game last week. CC-C won the first game 10-0. In the second game, Colby Butler went all seven innings to get the win. Brady Burggren and Austin Huber had RBI singles. Montabella is 6-6.

 

Big Rapids boys golf team was eighth Monday at the Ludington Invitational. Brad Walling shot a 77 to finish seventh individually and lead Big Rapids. Matt Brejcha tied for 28th at 91 while Evan Monko tied for 390th with a 92.

 

Lakeview’s girls soccer team blanked Reed City 1-0 Wednesday in a game called seconds into the second half after a lightning storm delay. Danielle Grant was the winning goalkeeper for Lakeview. Devin Wood scored for Lakeview, which is 5-5.

 

Big Rapids’ soccer team defeated Lakeview 4-1 in girls soccer action on Monday. Jenna Buck scored in regulation for the Cardinals. Maddie Tassonio scored twice and Katie Adrianse once in overtime. Big Rapids is 8-3-1 overall.

 

Big Rapids’ soccer team was 1-1-1 Saturday at the Comstock Park Invitational. The Cardinals lost 2-1 to Wayland, tied Zeeland West and beat Comstock Park 1-0. Hannah Davis scored goals against Wayland and CP. Jenna Buck scored against Zeeland West.

Greenville’s baseball team swept Northview last week in OK Bronze Conference action 16-0 and 10-2. Nick Reamer and Calvin Syrjala were the winning pitchers. Kolton Dunham had five hits combined in the two games.

Lakeview’s softball team picked up a 7-4 softball victory on Wednesday over the Tri County Vikings. Kirsten Johnson was the winning pitcher and threw a five-hitter. She had a home run while Vaughn Martens had three hits and two RBIs.

 

Kenzie Weiler won the 800-meter run for Cedar Springs in OK Conference jamboree action last Thursday for girls track and field. Also for Cedar, the 4×4 relay of Hannah Heintzelman, Aaliyah Sargent, Tara Tepin and Kenzie Weiler was first in 4:18.52. Heintzelman, Shayne Mann, Maddie Pekrul and Kenzie Weiler were first in the 4×8 relay in 10:05.99.

 

Austin Sargeant won the 800-meter for Cedar Springs in 2:02.77 in O-K Conference jamboree action last Thursday. Sargent also won the 1,600 meters in 4:36.39 and the 3,200 meters in 9:46.33. MavRick Cotten won the long jump in 18-11.

 

Rockford defeated East Kentwood 75-62 in girls track action last Thursday. First places for Rockford came from Makayla Clum in the 400 meters (58.82), Molly Weir in the 800 meters (2:23.82), Lauren Brasure in the 1,600 meters (5:12.01) and 3,200 meters (11:07), all four relay teams.
