Belding’s boys track team defeated Comstock Park 71-62 in boys track action late last week. Belding is 1-2. Andrew Swider led Belding with firsts in the 200 and 400 dashes, plus the pole vault. Trevor Curtis won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200.

 

Neil Feldpaush is coaching a St. Johns girls track team that will be led by Karrigan Smith in the 800 and 1,600 meter, Kayla Kraft in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters and Lyndsay Pung in the 400 meters, plus Emily Wohlfert in the 100 meters.

 

Lakeview’s soccer team fell to 1-2 overall with a 1-0 loss to Fremont last week in non-league action. Danielle Grant was goalkeeper for Lakeview and had three saves.

 

Cedar Springs beat Greenville 9-6 in girls softball action late last week. Allisa Beerthuis and Sarah Newhouse collected three safeties apiece. Greenville fell to 5-3 overall. Beth Gantz and Nikota Howe also had hits.

 

Belding’s softball team defeated Comstock Park 11-10 late last weekend. Mariah Heintzelman’s walkoff double in the bottom of the seven inning got the job done for Belding for the winning run. Brooke Linebaugh was the winning pitcher. Greta Wilker had four hits. Belding is 6-4.

 

Crossroads soccer team improved to 4-1 with an 8-1 victory over Gladwin on Monday. Katie Haner scored twice for Crossroads. Alyssa Larson had two goals for Crossroads. Alyssa Larson had a hat trick for Crossroads.

 

Big Rapids’ golf team was 11th at the Traverse City Invitational on Friday. Brad Walling led Big Rapids with a 170, followed by Carter Bechaz had a 175 and Tait Morrissey had an 188. Michael Tassono had a 210.

 

Crossroads baseball team lost 13-3 and 6-2 to Baldwin on Monday and is 3-7 overall. Zach Rardin and Ryan Smithey were the losing pitchers for Crossroads. Nick Worral, Rardin and James Strickland were among the top hitters.

Big Rapids Crossroads defeated Baldwin 14-3 and 29-10 in softball action on Monday. Cassie Cole was the winning pitcher in both games. Sydney Balsitis, Megan Soller, Katie Vandersloot, Emma McDonald, Nina Neon and Katlin Reed were the top hitters.

 

Alma coach Jamie Puffpaff figures on having a very competitive girls track and field team this season. “We are a very young team with lots of potential,” Puffpaff said. Top performers are Lexi Morton in the throws, Tayla Guerrero in the sprints, Madison Doolittle in the sprints and hurdles, Kaylynn Brecht, Mariah Castillo, Alyx Welsey Alli Munger in the mid-distances and Seraphina Provenzzano in the distances.
