Big Rapids Crossroads Academy beat Brethren 9-0 in soccer action on Thursday. Alyssa Larson, Meron Slomp, Anika Walton-Stanciel (twice) Aubrielle Angell (twice), Kayla Kuenzel and Katie Haner (twice) scored for Crossroads. The game only last for one half.
Big Rapids softball team lost to Central Montcalm 7-4 on Thursday. Rachel Hendrick took the loss for the Cards. Kayla Chamberlain led Big Rapids with two hits and two runs scored while Emily Schlaupitz had two hits and two RBIs.
Big Rapids’ baseball team defeated Central Montcalm on Thursday 7-3 in the second game of a twinbill after losing the first game 14-6. Axel Freiberg was the losing pitcher in the first game, Dakota Sanders had two doubles for BR. Josh Jones got a double, along with Caleb Childers for Big Rapids.
Central Montcalm scored 24 points to take 10th place in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Gwen Parks was fourth in 14.95.
Vestaburg scored 82 points to take seventh place in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Johannah McCarty was first in the pole vault at 7-0 and Ashley Swarts first in the long jump (13-9).
Lakeview scored 87 points to take sixth place in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Ahkarhee Pettway was third in the 200 meters in 28.51 seconds.
Saranac scored 116.5 points to place fourth in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Sydney Holtforth won the 300 hurdles in 56.55 seconds. Sadie Guernsey won the shot put in 37-5 ¾ and the discus at 101-8 ¾.
Lakewood scored 171 points to take third in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Samantha Morrison won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.42 and the 300 hurdles in 52.33 seconds. The 400-meter relay team won in 53.92 seconds. The 800-meter relay team won in 1:54.93.
Morley Stanwood scored 185.5 points to take second in the Central Montcalm Invitational girls track and field meet recently. Amanda Gillims won the 100 meters in 14.53 seconds. The 400-meter relay team won in 55.37. The 800-meter relay team won in 1:57.9. the 1,600-meter relay team won in 4:55.57.
Ionia scored 212 points to win the Central Montcalm Invitational women’s track and field meet recently. Hailey McRoberts won the 100 meters in 13.10 record and the 200 meters in 26.45 seconds and the 400 meters in 1:01.53. Kiersten Reeves took the 800 meters in 2:41.79. Taryn Hubaker won the 1,600 meters in 5:45.83 and the 3,200-meters in 13:12.77. The 1,600-meter relay team won in 4:20.03. The 3,200-meter relay team won in 10:16.16. Anna VanSyckle won the high jump in 5-0.
