Central Montcalm’s softball season ended with an 8-2 loss to Morley Stanwood on Saturday. Central has a 24-11 record.

 

Central had won the first game, 14-2 over Evart. Saydee Rowland was the winning pitcher. Scylar Blaisdell, Maddy Chrstiensen and Courntee Nicholson had three hits apiece.

 

Belding’s softball team has now won six straight district titles. Coach Mikayla Linebaugh’s Redskins defeated East Grand Rapids 23-0 the semifinals and whipped Forest Hills Eastern 11-3 in the finals. Julia Ruppert and Paige Ledin were the winning pitchers. Ledin had five RBIs in the first game. Rachel Hunt had three hits and two RBIs in the second game.

 

Laingsburg’s boys track team scored 92 points to win the recent Division 3 regional track and field meet at Ithaca. Nick Brown was second in the 400 meters at 53.4 seconds. Kolmarge Harris won the 110 hurdles in 16.00 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 42.59. Michael Schauer won the discus at 166-5. Adam Wickham won the  high jump at 6-1. Cole Franks won the long jump in 21-2.

 

Pewamo-Westphalia scored 72 points to finish second in the Division 3 track and field state meet at Comstock Park on Saturday. The 400-meter relay of Sasha Platte, Jenna Thelen, Gabie Hummel and Kenzie Weiber was first in 49.78. Kenzie Wieber was 11-6 in the pole vault for first place and Sasha Platte was fourth at 10-6. Betsy Arens was sixth in the long jump at 16-9 ¼. Kelsey Schmitz was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 15.83. Brenna Wirth was second in the 400-meter dash in 58.07 Kelsey Schmitz was fourth in the 300 hurdles at 46.07. The 1,600-meter relay team of Brenna Worth, Cammie Noeker, Betsy Arens and Marissa Wirth was first in 4:01.16.

 

Frankenmuth scored 96 points to win the girls Division 3 track and field state championship on Saturday at Comstock Park. Sydney Brooner was first in the high jump at 5-6. Angie Ritter set a new meet record by winning the 100-meter dash in 11.94. Rotter set a new meet record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.72. Bronner, Cadi Palmreuter, Sarah Beulla and Ritter won the 800 relay in 1:41.17 for a new state record. The 400 relay team of Rebekah Barger, Cadi Palmreuter, Stephanie Lambeth and Beulla were second in the 400-meter relay in 49.90. The 1,600-meter relay team was second in 4:04.59.

 

Sanford Meridian won the boys Division 3 track and field state title on Saturday at Comstock Park. The 1,600-meter relay team sealed the win by winning the last event of the day with a school record of 3:21.44. Dan Johnson, Kevin Scheibert, Jacob Ham and Jacob Wenzlick was on the team. The 800-meter relay team of Charles Ellthrope, Wenzlick, Ham and Scheibert was first in 1:28.99. Wenlick was fourth in the long jump at 21-3 ¼. The foursome of Charles Ellithorpe, Scheibert, Wenzlick and Ham was first in 43.45. Scheibert was third in the 400-meter dash in 49.43. Ham was fifth in 22.79 in the 200 dash.

 

Lansing Waverly’s girls track scored 31 points to take second place in the Division 2 track and field state championship on Saturday at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids. Teaghan Thomas, Erin Pete, Taylor Manson and Chante Roberts won the 800 relay in 1:42.92. Chante Roberts was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 26.17. The 1,600-meter relay team of Taylor Manson, Teaghan Thomas, Anaiyah Brewer and Roberts was first in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:02.08.

 

Chippewa Hills girls track team scored 34 points to win the Division 2 track and field state championship on Saturday at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids. O’Neil was second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:53.92 and second in the 800 meter. Erin Drouillard was third in the pole vault at 10-11. The 3,200-meter relay team of Megan O’Neil, Kyle Schafer, Jennifer McNeal and Emily Starck was fifth in 9:42.26. McNeal won the 400-meter dash in 58.61 seconds. Eomonee’ Anderson, McNeal, O’Neil and Nicole Snyder were sixth in 4:03.87 in the 1,600-meter relay.

 

Chesaning scored 16 points to take 15th place in the Division 3 regional at Ithaca for girls track and field recently. Kayla Richmond was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles at 17.20.

 

Carson City-Crystal scored 20 points to take 11th place in the Division 3 regional at Ithaca for girls track and field recently. Kaitlin Beyer was second in the 3,200-meter run in 11:42.43.
