Vestaburg defeated North Muskegon 2-1 to win the Division 4 regionals on Saturday in girls softball action. Both teams scored their runs in the first inning. Vestaburg is 27-8 and plays Ubly in the quarterfinals on Tuesday. Janelle Rons was the winning pitcher for Vestaburg and also had an RB double and scored on a passed ball.

 

Belding’s bid for a fifth straight regional Division 2 softball title ended with a 12-9 loss to Allendale on Saturday. The Redskins were 18-12-1 and had to play without senior shortstop Rachel Hunt. Greta Wilker had a three-homer for Belding.

Mount Pleasant’s girls soccer team ended an historic season with a 13-5-5 record following a 1-0 loss to Grand Rapids Christian in the Division 2 regional finals at Cedar Springs Friday night.

It was the farthest Mount Pleasant girls soccer has gotten in a postseason tournament.

 

The score was tied 0-0 a halftime. Monreau DeVos scored with 28:44 to play in the second half when she booted a loose ball into the net. Kasey McGillvary was goalkeeper for Mount Pleasant and had a five-game shutout streak snapped with the loss.

Joshua Balhorn of Montabella shot a 95 in the first round Friday of the Division 4 state boys golf finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. He’s playing as an individual in the tournament.

 

Tyler Neering of Bay City All Saints shot a 95 in the first round Friday of the Division 4 state boys golf finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. He’s playing as an individual in the tournament.

Cody Lennox shot an 87 to lead New Lothrop which shot a 370 at the Division 4 state boys state finals Friday at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. Cody Lennox shot an 87, followed by Tucker Moriarity with 83, Travis Sumner 98, Logan Kulhanek 101 and  Brendan Neige 107.

 

Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart shot a 353 and sits in 10th place after one round Friday of the Division 4 state boys finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. Kyle Pronick had an 85, followed by Sam Kindermann with 88, Ayush Mohan and Jake Starry 90s and K.C. Earvin 100.

 

Fowler shot a 347 and sits in ninth place after one round Friday in the Division 4 state boys finals at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek. Austin Feldpaush has a 79 while Derek Bengal had an 82, Justin Armbrustmacher and Joseph Smith 93s and Marcus Braun a 98.

 

Josh McCurry of Farwell shot an 86 after the first round of the Division 3 boys state golf finals at Grand Valley State University’s Meadows Course.  He’s playing as an individual in this tournament.
