Portland lost 1-0 to Fowlerville in Division 2 regional semifinal action on Saturday. Portland had beaten Eaton Rapids in the district final finals late week. Katie Schrauben had one hit and two RBIs for Portland.

 

Saginaw Swan Valley defeated Clio 9-2 in the regional semifinals and lost to Croswell-Lexington 3-2 in the regional finals for Division 2 on Saturday. The win over Clio was the 30th of the season for Swan Valley. Courtney Reinhold was the winning pitcher. Sarah Addy had three hits and three stolen bases.

 

Frankenmuth lost 9-6 to Croswell-Lexington in girls softball Division 2 regional semifinal play on Saturday. Frankenmuth is 28-10-1. Ivy Holland and Andrea Perlberg had three hits apiece for Frankenmuth. Holland had three RBIs.

 

Shepherd lost 11-0 to Unionville-Sebewaing in the regional finals on Saturday. Shepherd had edged Beaverton 2-1 in the semifinals. Shepherd, 28-11, beat Beaverton in the semifinals 21-1 Hailey Buckley was the winning pitcher with 10 strikeouts. Buckley, Katie McCollough and Kaylie Rhynard had a hit apiece.

 

Sanford Meridian’s softball season came to an end Saturday with a 6-0 loss to Unionville-Sebewaing. USA, which is 37-0, scored four runs in the first inning.

 

Morley Stanwood lost its regional semifinal 11-1 to McBain on Saturday in girls softball action. The Mohawks end the season at 19-17-1. Lindsey Veersma had two hits and a home run for the Mohawks.

 

Fowler defeated Morrice 12-2 for the Division 4 softball regional title on Saturday. Fowler edged New Lothrop 7-6 in the regional semifinal with six runs in the bottom of the seventh. Fowler had six hits.

New Lothrop’s softball season ended with a 7-6 loss to Fowler in the regional semifinals for softball on Saturday. New Lothrop is 23-9. New Lothrop had a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the seventh and allowed seven runs. Breanna Secvech and Shelby Vincke had three hits apiece for New Lothrop.

 

Merrill lost 15-4 to Brown City in Division 4 regional semifinal action. Merrill ended the season at 9-23. It had defeated Saginaw Valley Michigan Lutheran Seminary 16-0 the previous week in the district finals on a one-hitter by Hailey Kitzmiller and three hits from Emma Carlson.

 

Brooke Lewandowski had an RBI single in the bottom of the ninth for Chippewa Hills in a 5-4 win over Ogemaw Heights to take a Division 2 regional title on Saturday. Winning pitcher Cassidy Johnson had seven strikeouts and allowed 10 hits plus one walk.
