Fowler’s softball season ended with an 11-1 five-inning loss to Rogers City Friday in a Division 4 state semifinal softball game at Michigan State University. Fowler’s season ends at 26-7. Kayla Schafer had two hits and Brianna Schmitt also had two hits.
Vestaburg’s softball team struggled with four errors Friday in a 6-1 loss to Kalamazoo Christian in the Division 4 semifinals at Michigan State University. Vestaburg’s season ended at 27-9. Jannelle Rons took the pitching loss for Vestaburg. Karigan Gates had two hits for Vestaburg.
Bay City Western defeated Clarkston 6-1 in state semifinal baseball action on Thursday. Brandon Wise had three hits and Tyler Snover two RBIs for Bay City Western. Scott Badour pitched a seven-inning five-hitter. Hunter Buczowski had three hits and three RBIs while Dean Marais had three hits and two RBIs and joe Genia added two hits and two RBIs. Buczkowski in seven innings give up five hits as the winning pitcher.
Bay City Western blanked Jenison 2-0 in Division 1 state quarterfinal action onTuesday for baseball. Brandon Wise pitched a three-hit shutout. Hunter David and Justin Gorr had two hits apiece for Bay City Western.
Mount Pleasant is in the state finals. The Oilers beat Richland Gull Lake 7-1 in Division 2 semifinal action on Thursday. Hunter Buczowski had three hits and three RBIs while Dean Marais had three hits and two RBIs and joe Genia added two hits and two RBIs. Buczkowski in seven innings give up five hits as the winning pitcher.
Mount Pleasant’s baseball team blanked Gladwin 5-0 in Division 2 quarterfinal action on Tuesday. Dean Marais had thee hits while Joe Genia and Zach Heeke had two hits apiece.
Richmond defeated DeWitt 2-1 in Division 2 baseball state semifinal action on Thursday. Christopher Ruby had a hit and scored a run for DeWitt. Sam Smith took the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits.
DeWitt defeated East Grand Rapids 12-7 in nine innings in the state quarterfinals for Division 2 on Tuesday. Keaton Sackett had two hits including a triple for DeWitt while Jon Michael-Moody had two hits and three RBIs.
Reese, 28-7-1, is in the Division 3 state semifinals Friday after a 5-1 win against Pinconning in the Division 3 state quarterfinals on Tuesday. Matt Sahr almost had a no-hitter for Reese. He gave up two hits and fanned eight. He also had an RBI.
New Lothrop is in the Division 4 baseball semifinals Friday after a 5-4 win over Sterling Heights Parkway Christian on Tuesday in the quarterfinals. Cameron Pope had a bases loaded walk for the winning run.
