Mt. Pleasant captured the Division 2 state baseball title this season and the Oilers had a number of players earn post-season honors in the process.
Senior pitcher Aaron Leasher led the way as he was named first team, all-state in Division 2.
Mt. Pleasant baseball coach Luke Epple was also honored as he was named the Division 2 Ccoach of the Year.
A number of other local players also earned all-state honors. Portland senior pitcher Tanner Allison was selected first-team, all-state along with Haslett junior infielder Trace Woodworth, Lakewood senior infielder Alex Caudy, DeWitt senior first baseman Sam Smith, Midland Bullock Creek first baseman Drew Roth, Portland senior outfielder Austin Brandt, and DeWitt senior catcher John Michael Moody.
Bay City John Glenn has a pair of players earn second-team, all-state honors in senior pitcher Antonio Jacobs and junior outfielder Tyler Robbins-Bay. Mt. Pleasant sophomore pitcher Hunter Buczkowski also earned second-team honors as did Swan Valley senior infielder Ben Finzel and Portland senior Andrew Click was made the team as the utility player.  

DeWitt was third with 28 points in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. The team of Madison Slater, Shelby Waterson, Emily Murdoch and Jordan Lee was seventh in 9:47.05 in the 3,200-meter relay. Josie Yesmunt won the 100-meter dash in 12.33 seconds and the 200 in 25 seconds. DeWitt was third in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:02.60.

 

Midland Bullock Creek scored four points to tie for 41st place in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Chynna Biggs was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 15.71 seconds.

 

 

Cedar Springs scored four points to tie for 41st place in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Kenzie Weiler was fifth in the 3,200-meter run in 11:21.39.

 

Belding scored four points to tie for 41st place in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Monica Baylis was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:18.89.

 

Williamston scored five points to tie for 37th place in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Paige Dutcher was sixth in the long jump at 17-0 ¼. Williamston was eighth in the 800-meter relay in 1:46.08 with the team of Paige Dutcher, Julia Henderson, Taylor Condit and Sarah Schultz. The 1,600-meter relay team was eighth in 4:04.08.

 

Owosso scored five points to tie for 37th in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Katie Lynch threw the discus 121-5 for seventh place. Dillon McClintock was sixth in the 800 meter run in 2:18.70.

 

Mason scored seven points for a 34th-place tie in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Rachel Johnson threw the discus 122-8. Caitlin Niswonger tossed the shot put 38-8 ¼ for fifth.

 

Charlotte netted 10 points to place 26th in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. Ally Goeman was seventh in the 100-meter dash in 12.72 seconds. Brianna Hasler was seventh in the 400-meter dash in 59.61 seconds.

 

Saginaw Swam Valley scored 13 points to tie for 21st place in the state girls track and field Division 2 finals at Houseman Field in Grand Rapids recently. The team of Lauren Huebner, Chelsea Templin, M. Kreiger and Chelsee Larsen were fifth in 1:45.73 in the 800-meter relay. Larsen was fifth n the 400-meter dash in 58.62 seconds. Lauren Huebner was fourth in the 300 hurdles in 46.62.
