The Frankenmuth Boys golf team traveled to Twin Oaks Golf Club this Wednesday for their 3rd conference competition. The teams played East nine from the blues totaling 2810 yards.

The overall team score was the best the team has put up this season to date. They shot a 172 earning them the same 4th spot in the new 7 team conference.

Andrew Zuniga stepped up for the Eagles today, shooting his season best 40. Zuniga had a rough start on his very first hole. After teeing his shot in a ditch, he took a penalty stroke and put the ball just off the green about 40 feet away from the hole. He managed to save par but chipping in! That momentum allowed him to find his rhythm. On hole 1, Zuniga put the ball within 2 feet of the hole from his second shot from 130 yards out. That led to an easy tap in birdie. We are excited to see him continue progress as the season continues.

Caden Piesko had an impressive day as well. He shot second best for the team with a 42. Piesko managed 5 pars on the day and had a really nice 14 footer drop on hole 9. Piesko played smart and efficient, controlling his tee shots and making his pars by getting on the green. His play has improved with every competition it seems.

Eric Nielsen and Brendan Lenhard added to the team score with 45s. Nielsen’s putting has been on fire lately. He had a 30 foot bogey save on hole 5 has been dialed in from anywhere from 2 feet to 10. Lenard has adjusted nicely this season. His consistency on his drives allows him to score low. He drove the green on hole 5 which led to an easy birdie.

Andrew Hoesman also managed to drive the green on hole 2 which allowed him to salvage a birdie.

Robbie Brown made his varsity debut as a freshmen. Brown parred holes 6 and 9 and had some impressive drives.

A walk-off single propelled Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity to a decisive, dramatic victory over Freeland, 3-2. Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity trailed 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Dayne Reif singled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Drew Titsworth struck out six, while Hileman sat down three.

Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity got on the board in the second inning. Nick Torrez drove in one when Torrez singled.

Titsworth pitched Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity to victory. Titsworth allowed four hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.

Hileman took the loss for Freeland. The bulldog allowed seven hits and three runs over six and two-thirds innings, striking out three and walking one.

Torrez went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity in hits.

Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity defeated Freeland 9-2 on Tuesday thanks to a timely five runs in a big second inning. The big inning was thanks to singles by Cole Lindow, Riley Roy, Dayne Reif, and Drew Titsworth.

In the second inning, Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity got their offense started when Lindow singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

Nick Torrez was credited with the victory for Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. The righthander went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out four and walking zero.

Freeland saw the ball well today, racking up seven hits in the game. R Quackenbush and Cannom all managed multiple hits for Freeland. Freeland didn’t commit a single error in the field. Quackenbush had the most chances in the field with seven.

Brooklyn Compau threw her 4th shutout of the season with a 1 hit, 17 SO game while allowing 3 walks. It was needed as the Lady Eagles stranded 11 runners but did get 4 runs for the victory.

The Eagles scored first in the top of the third. Maggie Thiel led off with a double. She stole third base and came home on a single by Tiffany Keller. Frankenmuth would add a run in the 4th on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Maggie Thiel. With the score 2-0, Frankenmuth would add insurance runs on an RBI single by Aubrie Jacob and a pickoff attempt at third base went into left field for the 4th run. It was all that was needed as Brooklyn Compau did the rest.

Offensively, Maggie Thiel (double, 2 SB) and Aubrie Jacob (RBI) had two hits. Tiffany Keller (RBI, SB), Faith Breinager (Double), Brooklyn Compau, and Mackenzie McConnell had one hit each.

The Frankenmuth Eagles gave up an unearned run in the top of the first inning, and 3 more in the second to set the tone as they dropped the game 8-2. In all, Frankenmuth had 9 errors in the game in a poorly played game. When you mix in some walks and hits then end up with 9 miscues, it creates a lot of base runners and thus 8 runs.

Brooklyn Compau took her first defeat, giving up 8 runs, 4 ER, 6 H, 11 SO, 4 BB and 2 HBP.
Offensively the Lady Eagles got only 2 hits as Olivia Bell, pitched a good game mixing up her pitches to keep the Eagles hitters off balance. Tiffany Keller and Faith Breinager had the only two hits.

Frankenmuth will look to bounce back in a non conference game Thursday at Reece. Their overall record is now 7-2 and 3-1 in the conference.

Coach Walraven: “Not much to say about this game. We came out flat, satisfied we took game 1 and played poorly. Thats on me. Currently we are not a team that will score a lot of runs so our defense has to play well and tonight it did not. We will bounce back, Im confident in our team.”
