The Frankenmuth Boys golf team got a glimpse of the regional course as they competed in a 12 team tournament Monday. The golfers played at Hidden Oaks in St. Louis, Michigan. They teed off at 9:00 from the white tees, totaling in 6,135 yards with a slope/rating of 70.4/122. It was 55 degrees at the start with a constant drizzle until 10:00.
The team shot a team best 360 earning them a spot in the top 3 teams at the tournament.
Eric Nielsen was on fired today shooting an impressive 39 on the front and a 40 on the back. His 80 put him in the top 3 golfers of the tournament. Nielsen was up and down for par on almost every hole. On 16 he made a punch cut shot from the trees that enabled him to go up and down for one of his 12 pars on the day.
Brendan Lenhard shot the next best with a 91. Lenard parred 4 out of 5 of his last holes.
Andrew Hoesman added a 93. Hoesman sunk a 25 footer on hole 13 to give him his only birdie on the day.
Caden Piesko finished the Eagles’ scoring with a 96. From 60 yards away on hole nine, Piesko almost holed out leaving the ball inches away from the cup.
Cameron Larrison and Andrew Zuniga also shot for the team but didn’t score. Larrison parred his last hole and Zuniga got a good look at the regional course.
New Lothrop softball is now 18-1 on the year and 8-0 in league play.

Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity wins contest against Trenton on Saturday, 4-1
Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity got on the board in the second inning. Jacob Bellinger singled on a 3-2 count, scoring two runs.
Tyler McKinstry was credited with the victory for Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. McKinstry went five innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out five. Nick Torrez threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Torrez recorded the last six outs to earn the save for Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity.
#9 took the loss for Trenton. The bulldog allowed five hits and three runs over five innings, striking out five.
Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity scattered six hits in the game. Riley Roy and McKinstry each racked up multiple hits for Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. McKinstry and Roy each managed two hits to lead Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Drew Titsworth had the most chances in the field with ten.
Vs. Southgate Anderson
Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity defeated Anderson 6-0 on Saturday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Zach Adkins induced a fly out from Peer to finish off the game.
Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity pulled off the big victory without ever scoring many runs in an inning. The most they scored was two in the seventh.
Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity got things started in the second inning when Cole Lindow singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.
A single by Peer in the fourth inning was a positive for Anderson.
Dayne Reif was the winning pitcher for Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. Reif lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight. Davin Reif and Adkins entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
White took the loss for Anderson. The bulldog allowed six hits and four runs over five innings, striking out five.
Reif, Jacob Bellinger, Riley Roy, Lindow, Tyler McKinstry, Drew Titsworth, and Noah Oster all had one hit to lead Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity. Frankenmuth Eagles Varsity didn’t commit a single error in the field. Roy had the most chances in the field with 14.
Anderson was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Mickel had the most chances in the field with eight.

Lydia Davenport took the loss. She had 9 strikeouts, 1 walk, gave up 4 hits, no earned runs

MILLINGTON – Millington junior right-hander Ashley Ziel threw a perfect game in the Cardinals’ game one victory over Hemlock on Tuesday. The Northwood University commit struck out 15 batters in the 1-0 victory, while also adding a double in three at-bats.
Ziel needed perfection as the Cardinal bats were held in check by the Huskie pitcher. Millington only had six hits, one of the hits provided the Cardinals’ only run as Trinity Fessler hit a leadoff home run to begin the second inning. The home run was Fessler’s fourth of the year.
Lilly Sherman had two hits to lead Millington.
MILLINGTON – The Cardinal baseball team lost a double-header to Hemlock on Tuesday night by the scores of 7-3 and 12-2.
Leyton Mays, Drew Kihn, and Will Kirby each had one hit and one RBI to lead Millington offensively in game one. Kihn’s hit was double.
Calvin Dipzinski suffered the loss for the Cardinals after relieving starter Luke Sherman.
Austin Kirby suffered his first loss of the season in game two.
Will Kirby led the way with two hits and an RBI.
Kihn added his second extra-base hit of the night with a triple. A double by Jordan Rabideau and singles by Brody Germain, Sherman, and Casey Dipzinksi rounded out Millington’s offense.
The Cardinals (8-5, 4-2) will return to action this Friday, April 30 when they host Montrose. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
Freeland took 1st with a 165 at Twin Oaks this week at the TVC event in Freeland. Alma took 2nd with a 166. Cade Frillici led the Panthers with a 40, Brandon Fandell 41, Jeffrey Sager 42, and Jacob Munger 43. Alma remains 1st overall by 7 strokes. Alma travels to the Fortress at Frankenmuth Wednesday, May 5th.
