Game 1: 8-7 win over Evart/
The Jackets faced another exciting finish. Playing Evart for the 3rd time of the season the Jackets held a steady lead, 8-2 until the fifth inning when Veronica Lofquist smoked a grand slam, moving the score to 8-6, and then a single was hit by Ally Theunick in the seventh to put them down just 1 run. ‘Our Lady Jackets are tough, however, and played some great defense to seal the win in the bottom of the 7th inning,” Shankel said.  ]”The offense was led by Kennedi Ryan who raked in 3 hits. Ivy Davenport, Megan Mankey, and Emmalee Shankel each had some solid hits with two each, while Alyssa McPherson and Myah Maurer each had 1. Key hits were Ryan’s triple, Mankey’s two triples and a double, and then Maurer’s  and Shankel’s doubles.
Defensively, Davenport and Ryan led the way for the Jackets. Davenport pitched the first 3 innings, striking out 5 and walking only 1 batter. Ryan relieved her in the 5th inning and struck out 1, allowing no walks.
Game 2: Win 14-7 over St. Louis.

Owosso traveled to Chesaning on Friday to compete in the Chesaning Track and Field Classic. Our girls team was able to finish in 7th place out of 15 teams, with some really awesome performances. Although the meet was scored using full results, teams were placed in two separate divisions for earning medals. Event medals were given to athletes for finishing in the top 4 in individual events and the top 3 for relays. At the end of the day we came away with 10 medals (4 from 1 relay).

As usual, the highlight of the meet came from pole vault where our 3 girls finished in the top 4 in our division, and the top 5 overall. Claire Agnew earned the win with a vault of 10′, while Libby Summerland matched her PR vault of 9’6″ for a 2nd place finish. Finishing 4th place with a personal best vault of 8’6″ was Kyle Bermudez.

The MVP of the meet for Owosso was Libby Summerland. Not only did she finish 2nd in pole vault, she finished 1st in our division in the 400m (2nd overall), 2nd in our division in the 200m (3rd overall), and was part of the 4x400m relay team (along with Claire Agnew, Onna West, and Emma Johnson) that finished 3rd in our division (5th overall), earning her 4 medals in 4 events. There is nothing this girl can’t do!

Peyton Spicer earned the final medal of the day with a 2rd place finish in high jump (3th overall).

Owosso girls will be back in action next Wednesday in our final Flint Metro League dual meet against Corunna at home on senior night.

Montabella’s softball game against Merrill was called due to weather/field conditions. Game will be finished May 11th at Merrill. Score was 9-9 in the bottom of the 4th inning
