The Frankenmuth soccer Eagles looked to extend their win streak on Wednesday against John Glenn and won 9-1.
Frankenmuth came out flat, giving John Glenn chances to clear the ball up to their striker and giving them opportunities to score. 17 minutes in, John Glenn managed to land a through ball that the Muth center backs couldn’t catch, leading to another 1v1 against the Muth keeper Austin Hergenreder. The Eagles continue to start their games uninspired and allowing their opponents to score, before collectively deciding to turn on the engine of the mighty Eagle offense. One minute after John Glenn scored, the Eagle machine engaged. In the 18th minute, senior Evan Baker scored off of a rebound. In the 20th minute, senior Kendall Morris dribbled into the box, and drew a PK from the keeper tackling him. He buried it easily in the corner of the net.
In the 30th minute, mighty freshman Brayden Curtis sent a cross into the box to Kendall Morris, who touched it to sophomore Miles Paetz, to make the score 3-1. However, the Eagles were just getting started. In the 33rd minute, Evan Baker sent a long service across the box  to Kendall Morris, who landed the pass and poked the ball into the back of the net. In the 36th minute, Morris headed a corner kick to Evan Baker, who then headed the ball into the top corner of the net, making the score 5-1.
In the second half, Frankenmuth roared out of the gates. In the 5th minute, sophomore Jae Shobbrook put in a rebound off of a shot from Baker that hit the post. In the 14th minute, Baker sent Morris with a long ball outside of the 18 yard box that Morris dribbled into the box and finished with ease. Two minutes later, senior Conrad Waldie received a throw-in, then found Morris inside the 18 yard box for an easy dribble and shot into the side net, making the score 8-1. In the 28th minute of the second half, Evan Baker lit up the nets with at 20-yard banger that ended the game at 9-1.
When asked about the game, senior captain Evan Baker said “It took us a while to get moving today, and we’ve got to work on that. Once we get our heads into the game, I feel like we play really well as a team.”

The Dow Varsity tennis team improved to 16-0-1 on the year after winning the Midweek Classic with 22 out of a possible 24 points.  Dow dispatched regional opponent Flushing 8-0, #10 University of Detroit Jesuit 8-0, and #4 Forest Hills Central 6-2.  Dow next plays at the Greater Michigan Tennis Center on Saturday in the Sunsational Saturday tournament featuring Grosse Pointe North, Portage Central, and #7 Okemos.

Coach Terry Schwartzkopf:”FHC always makes me uncomfortable…I guess you could say they are our arch rival for states…so any day we can pull out a decisive victory over them is a good day.  Truth be told, our boys cannot ever take a single match for granted.  There is a definite target on our back and EVERY team we play seems to play their best tennis against us.  That is the curse of a top ranking, I guess.  That being said, every tournament, every match won is one step closer to realizing our dream.  And I feel we keep getting better.  We still are not full strength but our reserves are up to the task, as evidenced by today.  Austin lost a heartbreaker against FHC, but those first two sets were some of the best tennis I have seen him play.  He is nowhere close to his ceiling and it has been a joy watching him get better and better.  From top to bottom, these guys remain hungry and I believe will be satiated only with a title in October.”
