The Montabella Middle School Boys Basketball took two from St. Charles on Monday.
The 7th grade boys were tied up at Elevens with St. Charles at the half. After only scoring 4 points in the first and 7 points in the second quarter, the offense woke up with 15 points in the third and never looked back cruising to a 32-17 win. The 7th grade had Jareth Shappee, Gavin Simmons, Malachi Houghton, and Jaxson Stockwell all scoring 2 points, Stewart Houghton with 4 points, Zayden Myers had 7 points and Blake Snyder had a game high 13.
The 8th grade boys started out sleeping and got into a 9-0 hole to start their game. But once Chase Keller knocked the lid off the rim in the second quarter, the Mustangs came roaring back to win a thriller in 0T 32-28. Gavin Willis had 2 points and another big assist night, Keion Adams played tremendously while undersized down low and put in 4 points.
Eli Rathka was able to step up and knock down big shots when needed; he had 6 points.
Justin James started finding his own down the stretch with 7 of his 9 points in the second half and, Chase Keller had a big day opening the scoring for the Mustangs and also coming up big with the 5 OT points; he had a game high 12pts.
