Meridian girls basketball bounces back after tough loss on Tuesday

 
Meridian hosted Pinconning Thursday night for their first home game of the season.
Meridian prevails 40-35 to hold off a strong comeback by Pinconning. 
 
Meridian was led by a senior, freshman combo. 
Senior Jenna Holzinger led the Mustangs with 14 point and hit the game sealing free throws late to hold of Pinny in JPC girls basketball action Thursday night. 
Freshman phoneme Grace Chinavare had a breakout game to lift the mustangs victory. 
She scored a career high 12 points and had 11 steals and 5 assist. 
 
‘Her defensive prowess was something special. She was everywhere. Whether it was her on ball defense or anticipation off the ball to get steals, she was our spark and helped lead a team effort defensively. 
 
‘We were like a swarm of bees tonight.”
 
Freshman Katie Chinavare had 7 points and 6 rebounds. 
Lauren brought collected 7 rebounds for the mustangs. 
 
Meridian 2-1 WILL host Gladwin on Saturday.
