The Mustangs picked up their first win of the season as they traveled to Ashley on Wednesday evening. It was an overall team effort from the start as 8 players scored, and 11 players recorded at least 2 rebounds. The Mustangs did not start the game particularly well but were able to pick up the pace quickly and find a groove, especially in the second half thanks to solid defense and good offensive movement.
Dakota Dykhuis and JT Smith both finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds
Caleb Theisen scored 7 points, had 6 rebounds and 5 steals
Eder Lopez scored 8 points and blocked 5 shots
Austin Foster scored 6 points
The final score would read Mustangs 54, Bears 17
The Mustangs are now 1-1 on the season and in conference play, and will play their first home game of the season on Friday against the rival Wolverines of Vestaburg. This will be a varsity only contest that will begin at 6:30.
