Freeland has won its Jan. 9 regional title football game via a forfeit by the host, Reed City, which cited COVID related reasons.
“I don’t have a comment about why, I will let Reed City explain,” Freeland coach Kevin Townsend said.
“I feel bad for our kids. We have done everything right and just want to play.”
Freeland (9-1) will play in the semifinal round on Jan. 16 against either Grand Rapids Catholic Central or Muskegon Oakridge/
