BCW vs Heritage @ Western

BCW – 39
Heritage – 79

Cioach Demario Walker: Momentum carrying over from our two wins in a row, we were confident in the first half and played Warrior basketball. We came out strong, competing every possession. Great first half again on the defensive end for us! Our boys finally know our defensive schemes and the expectations. We were down 5 with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter but made a few unforced and forced turnovers and Heritage capitalized. Only trailing by 11 points at half time 23(BCW) to 33 (Heritage) we still were in reach and believed that we could pull it out. We went into the locker room and made our adjustments and I challenged a few players to step it up. It wasn’t our defense that led up it was our offense. Final score may not show that we played good defense but we can only get so many stops in a row and play perfectly on defense without scoring. Turning the ball over after getting stops in the second half did not help us stay in the game. I told the boys we can’t continue to play great defense without scoring because we are not going to be able to stop a team from scoring every possession so we must score and take advantage when we get stops and have great defensive possessions. We will get back to work in practice tomorrow. Just when we think we have things figured out something else happens that we have to work on. If it’s not one thing it’s the other. However, we will bounce back and this game doesn’t take away the success we are having this season. We will continue to fight hard every possession and complete! We are looking forward to March and will be ready. Our next game against Dow on Friday at Dow at 7pm is a game we are looking forward to. It should be different than the first time we played them.
