Coach Kendra O’Connor is hoping this will be a special year for the Alma girls bowling team.
The Panthers compete in the Tri Valley East.
“We lost our entire varsity except for one,” O’Connor said, referring to Kimberly Wilson.
“Our bowlers returning from last year are Kimberly Wilson (only one from last year’s varsity), Taylor Gager, Lexus Dancer, Kami Richards, Skye Singer and Breonna Klein. Breonna started the season with us on varsity but then broke her hand just before Christmas and will be out for 4-to-6 weeks. “Brand new to bowling this year is Jasmin Carney who has been shooting in the 140’s which is very good for a new bowler. Also brand new to bowling are Corrin Dutton, Breena Cunningham, Aroa Guinea, and Natalie Wenzel who all are learning how to throw a hook ball and are showing huge improvement at every practice. My expectation is maybe not to win, but to do our best and meet some personal and team goals for the season.”
A key goal for O’Connor will be getting our Baker game score up and getting spares.
“We just moved into a new conference,” O’Connor said. “We have bowled the people we bowled last year for at least 12 years. This is the first year we are bowling in a new conference. The competition is harder and we still have a lot of girls learning their throws.”
