It was a big day for St. Louis cross country teams on Nov. 2 at Michigan International Speedway.
Libby Munderloh capped off a strong season for St. Louis’girls scores country team with a 10th place finish for All-State honors at the Division state meet in 19;13.4. She was seventh in the team race in which the Sharks took seventh place.
“I thought it went pretty well,” she said. “I thought I moved well throughout the race. It was a season with adversity individually and for the team. We dealt with a lot of injuries. I thought we performed so well today.”
Munderloh is a sophomore.
“I placed higher last year (at the state meet),” Munderloh said. “I thought it was a good comeback here.
She said her strength at the state meet was her finish.
“I closed really well,” she said. “We had a really strong team, we’re really young. There’s a lot there for us.”
As for next season, “I want to improve in both cross and track,” she said.
Also for the St. Louis girls, Mikenna Borie was 25th (20:03.0), Mikaila Borie 57th (20:48.7), Sela Delgado 82nd (21:14.7) and Jenna Abell 105th (21:48.6).
The St. Louis boys team took sixth place in Division 3, led by sophomore Nate March, who was 21st overall and 13th in the team race (16:43.1).
“The second mile, everybody started to pull back,” March said. “You had to use that to pull forward. I medaled in every race.”
Also for the Sharks, Aaron Bowerman was 26th (17:06.5), Joe Erickson (17:27.3) 43rd, Thomas Zacharko (17:46.4) 62nd and Austin Aldrich (18:13.2) 87th.
