SAGINAW – Millington used 11 ball carriers and a dominant run defense to a 45-6 victory over Valley Lutheran. The Cardinals 11 backs ran for 299 yards while holding the Chargers to a -51 yards.
Millington’s backs were led by senior Hunter Maxon’s 92 yards and two touchdowns on four carries. Maxon also added six tackles defensively.
Jerdannio Bailey, Jack Sherman, and Kyle Paquette all added touchdowns on the ground.
Will Kirby was 5-8 passing for 87 yards and two touchdowns. One touchdown was thrown to Zac Yorke and the other to Drew Kihn. Yorke caught three balls for 51 yards.
Paquette led the team defensively with nine tackles, five of them for a loss of yardage. Leyton Mays and Zac Finatri each had interceptions.
Millington (4-4) will host Central Montcalm (7-1) on Friday, October 25. A win guarantees Millington’s 31st consecutive winning season. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
