Big Rapids hosted Manistee in a Lakes 8 Conference match today. After a rain delay the Cardinals were able to come away with a 6-2 win.

“Our doubles lineup did an outstanding job today”. Sara Daniels / Chloe Mathewson had a routine 1 & 1 win. The 2-4 flights all had tight matches but were able to win in straight sets. The #2 doubles pair of Melanie Johnson / Corina Kailing went to 5-5 in the second and were able to close it out 7-5. Gemma Kailing / Tyler brown had a 4 & 3 victory in the #3 slot and Karlie Hughes / Ally Sims had a 3 & 4 win at #4. “Gemma is a senior that has been a solid doubles player for us. Tyler, Karlie and Ally are all sophomores that are brand new to tennis. They have shown a huge amount of growth since the beginning of the season. I think they will do very well in the conference tournament on Saturday”.

Eden Short at #1 singles and Brooke Hojnacki at #2 singles each have given up a total of one game in their last two matches. “Both Eden and Brooke are undefeated in conference play this season. They will go into the tournament as the #1 seed in their flights.”

The Cardinals host Fremont on Friday in the final home match. On Saturday they travel to Ludington for the Lakes 8 Conference tournament.
