Ithaca coach Daryl Dawe
Top Moment was placing 2nd at our home tournament
- Name some key athletes that have graduated from last season’s team and your remembrances on their contributions to the program.
We lost Tristan Sparks and Dakota Hamilton. Tristan was a spark plug for our team. He was high energy and really was able to motivate others. Dakota was a quiet leader that could win a match at any time. He was very deceptive and cunning on the mat.
Key athletes this year are going to be Ethan Schall, Guillermo Macias, Chanc McCormack, Jared Barden, Cole Tilton, Kyle Wood, and Chance Risner
Our upper weights are going to carry up this year and as we begin to start filling weight classes and taking voids instead of giving them we are going to see improvements in our record.
What expectations do you have of your team this season?
My only expectation is to compete hard and improve every day. If we are able to do that at the end of the season we will be able to look back with our heads held high and the wins will follow.
What will be your team’s strength?
Our strength is our upper weights. They are not only good wrestlers but they work incredibly hard.
What are some things this team needs to work on?
We need to stay off our backs. If the lower weights can keep a match going to 6 mins then we are taking points from the other team.
Your conference: How strong is it and who would you consider the league favorites? Where do you see your team fitting into the league race?
St. Louis has been our conference leader for a while with Pinconning coming on strong recently but I feel that we fit in right with them.
