Freeland played host to Clio, Gladwin and Harrison tonight in a quad that ended up being evenly matched night for each of the participants. Freeland, Clio and Gladwin finished the night 2-1 while Harrison left without a win for the night.

 

The Falcons started the evening with a two-set win over Harrison; 25-16, 25-11. Senior Taylor Bakos led the team with 5 aces while junior Caitlinn Pistro paced the team with 6 kills and 2 aces.

 

The second match brought the Falcons their only loss of the night in three sets 22-25, 25-20, 10-15. Pistro served up 4 aces and put down 9 kills with junior Elli Howard had the team high digs with 11 against the Flying G’s. Junior Grace Walker put up a night high of 21 assists in the loss.

 

The final match of the night against the Mustangs of Clio ended up being the most exciting to watch. The Flying Falcons took the first set by just 2 points 25-13. Set two was a similar back and forth with the Mustangs coming up on the winning end 25-22. The third the Falcons and Mustangs swapped the lead for six rotations. Junior Allison Reams served up an ace and the next 2 consecutive points to put Freeland ahead 12-9. The Falcons never gave up the lead at that point finishing the third set for a win 15-11. Junior Caroline Talaga paced the Falcons with 7 kills and 2 blocks while Junior Leiya Rybicki dished up 17 assists.

 

Pistro led the Flacons in kills and aces with 24 and 6 respectively. Howard led the Falcons in digs with 23. Talaga put up 3 blocks while Bakos added 4 blocks all against the Mustangs.

 

The Falcons record now stands at 17-6-5. They are back in action on Wednesday, October 3 at Shepherd.
