Beal City Varsity Cross Country traveled to the 44th Annual Don Baese Invitational in Carson City on Saturday and had a great day. Alex Taylor (3rd, 16:32.8), Levi Eisenbach (21st, 17:47.5), and Derek Gross (22nd, 17:53.8) led the Aggies in the varsity race with lifetime best times. Nathan Reihl (51st, 19:18.1) and Matthew Kolb (56th, 19:44.6) had season bests to complete the team’s scoring while Matt Clark had a lifetime best 20:55.7 as the sixth runner.  Rachal Weber (20:45.6) and Emma Gross (21:30.3) both posted freshman season bests in the girls’ varsity race to earn top-30 medals in 8th and 15th, respectively. In the boys’ JV race, Jacob Vollmar (20:29.4) posted a lifetime best as Logan Mishler (20:33.0) had a frosh best and Nathan Coston finished his first 5k race in 26:42.7. The boys’ varsity took nearly 6 minutes off their season best team time and placed 7th (tied for 6th, lost tiebreaker) out of 18 schools in the small school division. The Aggies return to Highland Conference action on Tuesday as Lake City hosts Jamboree #2 at Roscommon High School.
