The swimming Owosso  Trojans traveled back to Fenton for the Finals of the Genesee County Invitational on Saturday.  The championship would be a battle between state powerhouses Fenton and Grand Blanc.  Owosso was looking for strong 4th place finish behind a strong Flint Powers team but hoped to finish ahead of up and coming Swartz Creek and Davison who will be very good in the years to come.  In the end the meet came down to the last relay with Fenton winning the relay and the meet in the closest meet in years.  Behind many great swims the Trojans came away with an impressive 4thplace finish.  Coach Murray was very excited to see all the great swims.  The girls have been working very hard and it showed in all the improved times and great dives preformed this weekend.  Every swimmer for Owosso was faster on Saturday then they were in prelims.  The fastest swims for the Trojans were turned in by Allie Pumford who qualified for the State Championships in the 100 free, 200 free and the 100 Butterfly.  The final scores were Fenton 583.5, Grand Blanc 574, Powers 282, Owosso 201, Swartz Creek 147, Davison 120, Lapeer 103, Kearsley 69, Brandon 65, Holly 54. 

In the first event the medley relay the team of Lily Davis, Lily Espinoza, Macy irelan and Madison Livingston got the Trojans going with 4th place finish.  In the 2nd event the 200 free Allie Pumford placed 4th in a state qualifying time of 2:01.91.  In the IM Lily Espinoza had a tremendous swim taking 13th despite dealing with an injury for the past few weeks.  In the 50 free Madison Livingston raced to a lifetime best time of 28.00 placing 12th.  In diving Katie Clevenger preformed great dives taking 3rd and Faith Gates turned in a lifetime high score even with injured ankle. In the fly Pumford again qualified for states with a lifetime best swim taking 4th in a time of 1:02.44.  Macy Irelan also had a lifetime best taking 9th.  In the 100 free Madison Livingston had a lifetime best time of taking 11th while Erika Ochodnicky was 15th.  In the 200 free relay Pumford, Espinoza, Mya LaMay and Ochodnicky teamed up with every swimmer turning in either a season or lifetime best time and raced to a 4th place finish.  The team of Lauren Taylor, Kelsi Parker, Abby Christian and Marissa Spalding turned in 3 lifetime best times and had a great race narrowly beating Davison. In the backstroke Irelan had another lifetime best time placing 7th.  Lily Davis dropped over 2 seconds to earn a lifetime best time and finished in 15th place.  In the breaststroke Espinoza had a season best time taking 6th place. Faith Gates placed in diving and was also able to race to a season best time and placed 15th in the breaststroke.  In the final event the Trojans broke into the top 3 places in a relay with the team of Pumford, Irelan, Ochodnicky and Livingston all turned in season or lifetime best times in the 400 free relay taking 3rd
