The Beal City Varsity Cross Country teams hosted 10 other schools at Tuesday’s Beal City Invitational and the Aggie boys picked up the runner-up trophy with 85 points, 55 behind Sacred Heart and 27 ahead of third place Pine River. Alex Taylor led the team as he won the race in 17:40.3. Derek Gross posted a season best 19:15.5 for 14th with Matthew Kolb (22nd, 20:11.9), Levi Eisenbach (23rd, 20:13.4), and Nathan Reihl (31st, 20:36.4) rounding out the team’s scorers. Matt Clark (21:57.0) and Travis Faber (23:42.2) joined Derek in posting season best times. Rachal Weber earned herself a top-20 medal as she placed 7th in the girls’ varsity race at 21:39.3. Beal City opens Highland Conference competition at Evart next Tuesday in the first of three Conference Jamborees.
