Tuesday the Owosso Trojans traveled to Charlotte to take on the Orioles and won the swim meet 130-43.
The Trojans outmatched the Orioles in both depth and talent and were able to pull away to a comfortable win. The final score was 130 to 43. Owosso won nine out of the twelve possible events. “We have been putting in some good sets the last two weeks and we are looking forward to some important meets in September. Our focus right now is on quality training and building towards those meets.” Coach Murray said.
In the first event the medley the team of Marissa Spalding, Faith Gates, Madison Livingston and Kelsi Parker brought home the win. Hannah Yerrian, Cali Spalding, Lily Davis and Liz Vreibel finished in 2nd. In the 200 free Owosso swept the top three spots with Maddy Kregger getting the win for Owosso with Lauren Taylor finishing 2nd and Maddison Ketchum taking 3rd . The 3rd event was the 200 IM. Lily Espinoza racked up another win with Macy Irelan taking 2nd and Erika Ochodnicky taking 3rd to sweep the top 3 places. In the 50 free Chamberlin came in 2nd while Brooklynn Crackle took 5th. The divers preformed well with Katie Clevenger 1st and Gates took 2nd place. In the 100 fly Pumford continued the win streak for Owosso and Livingston came in 2nd. In the 100 free Irelan getting the win, Abby Christian taking 2nd and Crackle was 3rd completing another sweep. In the 500 Kregger was 2nd with Parker taking 3rd and Marissa Spalding taking 4th. The 200 free relay team of Pumford Espinoza, Irelan and Ochodnicky turn in a very fast 1st place time. Abby Christian, Gates, Ketchum and Livingston came in 3rd. The 100 back was won by Davis with Chamberlin coming in 2nd and Taylor taking 3rd to complete the sweep. In event 11 the 100 breaststroke Pumford got the win with Livingston taking 2nd and Christian take 4th. In the final event the Trojans capped off the night we great swims by Davis, Espinoza, Ochodnicky and Irelan to take 1st. The team of Chamberlin, Parker, Taylor and Marissa Spalding finished 3rd.
Madison Livingston had perhaps the best night turning in two lifetime best times. Many of the girls are hitting great times in the still young season. The team will use the next week and half to get in some good practice before taking on Ionia on Sept. 16th.
