Marshall got the ball first and drove to the 18yd line and missed a 35yd FG to start the game. Freeland put together a 14 plays 80yd that was kept alive by a 12yd fake punt run by Jayce Bourcier. Jack Townsend score on a 6yd Td catch from Elijah Vlassis. Jack Dreyer Kicked the PAT to take a 7-0 with 1:44 to go in the 1st.
The 2nd Quarter Marshall’s defense pressured Elijah Vlassis and hit him as he was throwing to cause an interception. Marshall put together a 5 play 36yd drive and Erza McAllister scored from 2yds out with 6:44 to go in the half. PAT sailed wide left and Freeland held onto a 7-6 lead.
After a fumble by Freeland, Marshall put together a 8 play drive that ended with 13yd TD catch by Jack Crull from Aidan Belew with 3:08 left in the half. PAT was good giving Marshall a 13-7 lead at the half.
Freeland started at the 20yd line to start the 3rd and had back to back penalties forcing them to punt from the 5yd line. Marshall blocked the punt and got the on the 12yd line. Ezra McAllister scored on the next play on a 12yd run. The 2pt run was good giving Marshall a 21-7 lead with 8:17 to go in the 3rd.
Freeland forced a punt to start the 4th quarter and took the ball 8 plays and 41yds in 3 minutes and Layne Moergeli ran it in from 12 yards out. After a penalty by Marshall, Moergeli punched in the 2pt conversion making it 21-15 with 8:54 to go in the game.
When Freeland needed it most their defense stepped up. Stopping Marshall on a 3rd and 1 and forcing a punt that went out of bounds on Marshall’s 23yd line. Freeland took only 5 plays to punch it in and tie the game at 21-21. The PAT went wide left and the game remained tied with 4:54 to go.
Freeland defense stepped up again and got the offense the ball back. Marshall put a ton of pressure on the Falcons and forced another interception. Marshall drove to the 35yd yard line before Sean Musial sacked the QB to send the game into OT.
In OT Marshall got the ball first, but Freeland Defense kept rolling. They forced Marshall to kick a FG and let offense decide the game. On Freelands first play of OT they got a holding penalty to send them back to the 20. Aiden West ran the ball down to the 8 yd line. Jack Dreyer took it to the 2 and Aiden West finished the job with a 2 yd plunge to win the game.
Cole Wiese, John Guerra, Aaron Comstock, Joe Melzo and Vinnie Kowalski battled up front all night to open holes for the running backs. The Falcons finished with 47 carries for 252 Yds while the Redhawks had 41 Carrie’s for 205. The Falcons were 6-12-69yds 1 TD and 2 Ints while the Redhawks were 5-15-43yds and 1 TD.
The Falcons are home on Thursday against Carrollton at 7pm.
