The Freeland volleyball team traveled to Frankenmuth for a tri-match on Wednesday with the host and Bay City Western.
The Falcons started strong, but were plagued with serve reception errors to allow Western to take the first set 25-22. With a few adjustments, Freeland came back to take the next three sets 25-17, 25-11, 25-22.
The host Eagles began the first set pushing the Falcons defense. After midway into the set, Freeland’s aggressive serving took charge and took the first set 25-17. With the increased confidence the Falcons ended the match with two decisive sets over the Eagles 25-11, 25-10.
Junior Caitlinn Pistro lead the team with 7 aces, 19 kills, 21 digs on the night. Senior Taylor Bakos added 15 kills and 5 blocks. Senior Lauren Moon contributed to the win with 9 digs. Juniors Ashley Schmidt and Grace Walker both put up 22 assists while Walker also provided 6 aces.
Tonight’s wins brings brings the Falcons record to 4-1-1.
