Laingsburg Girls Basketball Team File
The Wolfpack were unbeaten as of early January and ranked fifth in the state in Class C. Balance has been a key for the Wolfpack, who are led by Lindsey Smith and Julia Angst on offense. The team has also received strong efforts from Nicole McAvoy and Jalynn Mitchell. The Wolfpack are in first place in the CMAC and have won close games against conference rivals Fowler and Pewamo-Westphalia.
Morrice Girls Basketball Team File
The Orioles have enjoyed a historic start to the season. They won their first nine games in a row and were ranked second in the state in Class D in early January. Morrice has been paced by Courtney Wolf, who is averaging 19 points per game. Wolf also broke the school record for consecutive free throws this season. Averi Munro has been another key contributor, averaging 12 points and six rebounds, while Taylor Hewitt is third on the team in scoring.
Mikhail Myles File
Myles, who played at Corunna last season, transferred to East Lansing to be able to play his senior season with his younger brother. He is off to a big start, with a number of his highlight-reel dunks being featured on social media. Myles opened the season with a 35-point game against Jackson and is averaging over 20 points per game.
Owosso Wrestling Team File
Wrestling excitement was in the air in Owosso when the Trojans hosted the Owosso Assembly Duals against Linden. The entire student body and many parents were part of a crowd of over 1,000 fans that watched the Trojans and Eagles wrestle. Linden came away with a 44-28 win. Jacob Fisher (125 pounds), Dominic Redmond (130), Nick Bigneil (145), Malcolm Chesler (152), and Zachary Roberts (HWT) recorded wins for Owosso.
Corunna Girls Basketball Team File
Skylar Napier has been leading the way for the Corunna girls basketball team this season. A multi-dimensional guard who can get the job done on both ends of the court, Napier is Corunna’s leading scorer at 12 points per game. She had a high game of 22 points against Lake Fenton and scored 17 against both Fowlerville and Eaton Rapids. Napier is also averaging three assists and five steals per game.
Chesaning Wrestling Team File
The Indians started this season with 14 wins in their first 16 duals and are in second place in the TVC Central. Chesaning earned a big win when it went 5-0 to capture the title at the Gladwin Invitational. Justin Sloan, who earned his 100th career win this season, went 5-0 at the Gladwin tournament, as did Bret Helvie, Morgan Miller, Kegan McAlpine, and Kolin McAlpine. Wyatt Lanczynski and Trevor Patterson both went 4-1 at Gladwin.
