Teams on the Rise

The Bullock Creek File

The Lowdown: Bullock Creek is off to another stellar start, having posted a 12-0 mark prior to its TVC crossover game against Frankenmuth Jan. 26. The Lancers are an experienced group that faced another undefeated team in Ithaca during its other TVC crossover game. Bullock Creek, which made it to the Class B semifinal round the previous two seasons, is led by four-year starters Ellie Juengel, Halee Nieman, and Hannah Heldt. Junior Madison Hill is as smart as they come at the point guard position, and Shelby-Jo Bailey is solid off the bench for the Lancers. It wouldn’t be shocking to see Bullock Creek make another shot at the Breslin Center this season.

Prior to the TVC crossovers, Bullock Creek put together a solid effort in defeating Freeland, 52-46, in a conference showdown game. Nieman led Bullock Creek with 19 points, while Taryn Taugher paced the Falcons with 12 points.

The Frankenmuth File

The Lowdown: The Eagles were 11-1 prior to their TVC showdown against Bullock Creek Jan. 26. Frankenmuth’s only loss this season came against Bullock Creek in the second game of the season, 47-37. Bullock Creek held Frankenmuth to 22 percent shooting from the field in that game.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Eagles in TVC crossover action, as they will have to travel to face an undefeated Ithaca team Feb. 5.

Frankenmuth is loaded with shooters, including Madison Walter, who scored a season-high 27 points to lead her team to a victory over Lakeville. She hit four 3-pointers in the Eagles’ big first quarter and took over again later in the game.
