Preview: Salem was 12-0 last season and was a few pins shy of defending its title but will be young this season.
University of Detroit Jesuit is defending Detroit Catholic League champion and hopes to return to the state meet.
At Davison, “our goal every year is to return to the state team finals,” said coach Robert Tubbs.
Grand Haven coach Pat Mitchell expects his team to be a state finalist again, led by sophomore Jimmy Mitchell.
State finals prediction: Grand Haven will win.
DIVISION 2

Top local teams: Cedar Springs, Kearsley, Mount Pleasant, John Glenn
Top local bowlers: Blake Fisk, Cedar Springs; Jason Price, Lowell; Dylan Brown, Bay City Western; Colton Pancek, Mason; Dugan Conely, Cedar Springs
Preview: Kearsley won the title last season over Marysville.
Mount Pleasant was a state semifinalist.
Cedar Springs went to the state finals last season.

Preview: Big Rapids won a conference title last season and hopes to qualify for the state finals.
Alma and Ovid-Elsie should be strong.
State finals prediction: Grand Rapids South Christian takes the title.

Preview: Kyle Tuttle of St. Charles won the individual title as a freshman over Zach Fenby of St. Louis.
Ithaca is coming off a state runner-up season. “We graduated four of the six bowlers from last year’s squad. We are very young, but we have a lot of talent,” said coach Wallace Schneider.
Valley Lutheran is coming off an 8-2 season. “All my bowlers are key to winning,” said coach Tom Neumeyer.
State finals prediction: Jonesville will win another title.
