One would think that a two-time state champion wrestler, who is ranked 3rd in the United States at his weight, would be all about moving on and wrestling in college. But for Angus Arthur, his love of football takes precedence, and a Division I football scholarship is what he wants more than anything. “I’ve always liked the team aspect,” said Arthur. “In wrestling, even though we are no. 1 in the state, there are 50 people in the stands. At football games, everyone is there to see you.”

St. Johns has started this season 5-0, and much of that, according to Arthur, can be attributed to the leadership. “We have a junior captain for the first time, and the relationship between the juniors and seniors on this team is a huge part of why this team has came together this season.”

The rivalry between St. Johns and DeWitt is as strong as ever, and this group of seniors is looking for their first win against the Panthers. “Jake Johnson is a great quarterback, and DeWitt presents a lot of different threats,” said Arthur. ”But I think our defense will rise to the occasion. This is a big game for both schools, but for me personally, I’m looking forward to the DeWitt game.”

DeWitt also started its season 5-0, and both teams are undefeated in the CAAC Red, so the matchup certainly will have a big impact on the conference championship.
